For those old enough who had less humility out of Klopp and Alex Ferguson?

Ferguson was a determined, stern personality, sometimes truculent but given to moments of levity. And he'd earned the right to a little arrogance. He never passed himself off as everybody's mate, plastered his gurning grid over telly, magazine or supermarket ads and then snapped at the slightest provocation.
Klopp is a spoilt child by comparison, Ferguson would have had him soiling his untercrackers...

Don't think that's what the lad is implying at all - we do need to take a look at ourselves as we're a shambles and, despite the fact I've kept getting hate for saying this in the past, we're not this massive club we were (or we think we are), haven't been in ages.

I know everyone's about to lose their heads over this one as it is 'controversial', but honestly we're not - we've won nothing, anything we've gotten the chance to win - we've bottled every time to massively weaker teams, we've spent poorly; we're the only ones who keep saying we're big and good basically, even without the relegation fight currently. Our biggest European achievement in forever is signing Carlo Ancelotti for a year, who INSTANTLY bailed as soon as the Madrid (REAL MADRID BTW) job was open.

It's not the 80s. No one in the present day cares about how big we were back then, honestly. Ask anyone on the street. Call it short term memory or whatever you want, but "short term memory" can't apply to stuff that's over 25 years old ffs.

You can laugh at "bandwagon" fans and "current generations" and whatever the hell, but these people are absolutely justified - a lot of those are fans of at least moderately successful teams, just like some of the older posters on here became fans of Everton because of our success back then.

At least some of you've seen us win stuff lads, us younger folk have only seen bottling and pain lol

Maybe he expressed himself poorly but that's a clear implication. And he wouldn't be the only fan who thinks that there's a connection between what we think or feel or how we behave as fans and our success (or lack of it in this case) on the pitch

This is a thread on the world football forum about our local rival. There's one on RAWK about us. It's perfectly natural to take pleasure from your rival's misfortune, however relative they are. Dundee are likely to be relegated but their fans will be made up if Dundee Utd fail to get into Europe.

With respect, I think there are more than enough of us on here who have a rational balanced assessment of where we're at.. aka as you say "taking a look at ourselves". Regards the RS, we don't wear rose tinted glasses nor green with envy ones - which the tenor of many posts like yours usually infer.

We aren't blinkered and lacking the basic intelligence regarding their achievements but choose not to do so with megaphones and slobbering praise - the go-to reaction Kopites feel they're entitled to and expect . (Psst... we know we've been in the barren wilderness for years too by the way.) So.. and here we go again with the worn out response to these serial critical posts, you're wrong.

We know they : have won all before them, have a better everything, a big stand you see from everywhere, have the best players, a successful (though disturbingly unhinged) manager and more fans outside Merseyside than in. (And many more pilgrims outside the ground, match days. re-enacting Night of The Zombies.) Lack of success is football's sieve regarding fans...only proper ones stay around or join up when the chips are down. We're still here... would they be? Anyone disagreeing with the bias and corrupt shouts, just look at the challenges Kamara got two yellow cards for at selhurst park yesterday, versus what several of the mighty peds players, especially Fabinho, got away with against the yids - absolute joke, it’s hiding in plain sight the cheating shower of crooks.

It used to be very rare to get anything over three minutes. That used to annoy me as well but the standard default was always three minutes for years regardless of what had happened in the game. Now it’s almost 2 minutes or 5 minutes every game. 5 minutes if the result is not going the way the PL wants it ok, 2 mins if it is. Whenever we’re in front we seem to have to play out a lifetime of injury time for a game with no injuries and often only one goal. Whenever Liverpool aren’t winning there’s five minutes injury time even if there’s been no injuries or not many goals. When they are winning it’s just 2 or 3 minutes.

The whole thing is just rotten.

We need to introduce 60 min ball in play and stop the clock. Not upto the ref, like in RL

for that to work the live clock would have to be in full view at all times so we can all see when the clock has or hasn't stopped. There is so much to learn/take form other sports that would improve the game but I suspect some within the game don't want it changed. Miking of referees, VASRR explaining their decisions live and after the event (when they have got it wrong), medical trams allowed on the pitch during play, but then that would all make it harder to produce the 'end product' TV companies/FA/EPL want

Not sure , when Everton stopped them winning the league not so long ago I was surprised how hard they took it , you could see them crushed and physically shaken , it was marvellous.

I should say as well that this reminds me of the first time my Grandad took me to Goodison and we left on 85 minutes with Everton winning 4-1 (I think) I begged him to stay saying "They might score again!"

My introduction to being an Evertonian was his reply "They won't"

Michael Oliver and VAR particularly biased as usual yesterday, it must be said.

Fabinho with two very clear yellow card offences in the first half. Kane had a word with the referee after his third offence in the second half, and God only knows what Oliver said to fob him off but at that stage he still hadn't even as much as given a warning to him.

After his fourth or fifth foul he finally gets booked for a forearm smash on Son, for which VAR didn't even bother to look if the yellow was too lenient.

For most teams he's sent off after three fouls, and without those fouls that elbow gets either a straight red or upgraded to a red with VAR intervention.

Of course Liverpool and their ever-present squad cannot be allowed any disruption towards their quadruple.

To think Allan got a straight red and three game ban for a professional but not at all dangerous tackle, Richarlison the same a couple of years back for literally moving his head in the direction of another player without touching him, and who was it that got made an example of and was the first and only player in Premier League history to be sent off for diving/exaggerating contact in the area for us?

Another thing I noticed yesterday (only because the referee did it to Gordon recently) was them constantly be allowed to take corners with the ball outside of the triangle. I'm not sure which game it was for us but recall the referee waltzing over and making a big deal about moving the ball literally about 2mm back onto the line, yet Arnold was constantly taking it about 1cm offside and nothing was done.

It's these marginally decisions, along with the 50/50s or decisions where the referee genuinely has no idea (say for a throw or if it might have deflected wide/over) and just decides to give the ball to Liverpool, that will win them countless points over the season.

Add to that the failure to correctly discipline the likes of Thiago and Fabinho, yet harshly discipline opposing players, and it's pretty obvious to understand why they feel they are above the rules.

They dont put the same tackles in for international matches, they know the referees have their backs, they are constantly fouling from behind and nothing given, fabinho was booked because it could of been a red for the elbow not for a foul that the commentary suggested, imagine if that was a liverpool player on the end of that.

When Spurs scored and Oliver is just standing there looking at both assistants praying for one of them to give something then Henderson starts pleading with him on the way back. Must be annoying when a goal is so blatant that you can’t fix it with VAR or call a non existent foul.
