Carlos and Cafu were up down and whipping crosses in , they didn't show playmaker skills in half spaces the TAA and Cancelo, both of there starting positions are inside left and right, Cafu, Maldini and Carlos never came inside dictating play like a CM like TAA and Cancelo.

I don't know any FB besides them who play that way in the game right now, both can hit 60 yard passes on a six pence switching play with ease, comfortable being in the centre of the park while also doing the work of a classic FB.

I mean there have been very good full backs in the past who have been able to both pass a ball from deep and also put a cross in from the byline. There’s no amazing innovation from these two (except maybe sophisticated doping techniques). There’s nothing new in football, 11 players on a pitch can only do so many things. Klopp didn’t invent pressing, Pep didn’t invent Tiki Taka or the false 9, they’ve certainly not invented full backs who can pick a pass from deep ffs. This is just classic exceptionalism thinking that we exist in some halcyon period for football. We don’t. The only difference between what City and Liverpool are doing now and what players did in the past is that they do it at breakneck speed and do it three games in a week thanks to their doping…sorry advanced medical practices.
