Biggest shout on the MOTD screening was for VvD making a tackle. BRILLIANT said the commentator.Good job they didn’t put him on a long term deal on mega wages. Oh wait…

He was lucky not to get a red card for that too.Biggest shout on the MOTD screening was for VvD making a tackle. BRILLIANT said the commentator.
Not that i ever watch the RS except when they’re playing us, but I seem to recall at least Villa and Leeds ripping him to shreds before his crucifixion and resurrection. And even immediately before in the same game, DCL and James (?) running rings around him and earning a few snidey kicks for their efforts? He was good before the injury but vastly overhyped. The Liverpool Van Dijk was a cut below the Van Dijk at Celtic and Southampton IMO. The trajectory was downward before the injury last season, and that will plummet further from now on.
The wall was lucky to be still standingVAR, the 'kin wall moved !
And he would never have gotten away with his snide challenges if he didn't play for a club that controls the media and has fans capable of threatening to assassinate matchday officials. Not that i ever watch the RS except when they’re playing us, but I seem to recall at least Villa and Leeds ripping him to shreds before his crucifixion and resurrection. I thought that the moment he bounced right back up and began to berate the referee. And of course it was his team mates fault he was left exposed. He was lucky not to get a red card for that too.
The home form saves Liverpool. I always feel theyre vulnerable away when the crowd can get involved and the opponents get at Liverpool.
Make no mistake: this is a team in decline. They might be juicing on the caffeine drinks again this season but it makes less impact on players ageing into the 30s. And they have a very thin first team matchday squad - 14/15 players realistically. The wheels will come off them soon enough.
Just like they were nailed on to not get Top 4 last season, eh Dave? Pack it in. It's embarrassing now. I mean, eventually, you might be right, in the way that if you throw enough muck at the wall, some might stick. I'm sure we'll all be laughing when Brentford thrash us. Because they probably will with the way we play and the way they play. Their recruitment is excellent and something we should be copying. Toney cost them peanuts and look at him, we should be all over signings like that.
Listen mate, I want them to fall off as much as anyone, but the fact is even if they did degrade, they're still ahead of where we are. If you think Iwobi and Tom Davies would get into City, United, Chelsea or the RS's team, you're deluded.

The only bright spot in our recruitment recently is Gray, who looks an absolute bargain and is the type of player we should be looking for more of. He'd probably get into most top sides, or certainly will after a season in the PL.
And as much as I want Van Disney to be finished, he isn't. He might look off it, I'm not sure. But that tackle he made that saved them a point would suggest he's still got the tools, annoyingly enough.
I think we should be better than wanting rival players injured, personally. But that's just me. We always say we don't go to their level in the gutter, so why are we hoping Pickford does something to TAA?

Long may TAA be uninjured and play in their team. The Archilles Ankle of the team or best right back in the world - I don't even think Garth Crooks would put him in his team of the week let alone team of the season.Listen mate, I want them to fall off as much as anyone, but the fact is even if they did degrade, they're still ahead of where we are. He’s skated by for a long time. Even before his injury last season he was all over the shop leaking three to Leeds and 7 to Villa. Why I’ve never rated him as one of the best is that he’s never anywhere near the danger. The ball is magnetised to the best defenders, but it also means that occasionally they get caught out making mistakes. Saint Virgil never made mistakes because he’s never anywhere near the danger area, he was always out wide or in midfield screaming at Lovren or Matip who are actually having to do the defending. More interested in putting in showy body slams against wingers for no reason or trying to bring it out and getting caught than actually just doing dirty dull defensive work. That’s why for me he’s absolutely nowhere near the likes of Ferdinand Vidic Terry Adams Kompany etc. Nowhere near them. A good centreback yes but the media are making him out as one of the best of all time. Look at how he got out jumped for Brentford’s second goal!
A good centreback who is good on the ball and was quite quick, and attacks an offensive set piece well. That’s all he’s been in my view. Any sort of decent attacking play has always been able to put him on the back foot though and once he is under pressure you find he’s mysteriously never anywhere near the danger area when the balls flying in the back of the net.
