The second goal is absolutely peak Van Dijk. Just nowhere near the danger whatsoever. If that ball goes in from the initial shot then Kopites are all over Twitter moaning about Matip but Van Dijk isn’t even in the penalty area when the cross comes in. Cant make a defensive mistake when you’re nowhere near the action.

As I was reading this I was thinking the same thing, you can tell so much about a player from their reactions to moments on the pitch. With van Dijk he's pleading with referees every single match, he's lost the imperious "shrug decisions off" that he had before.

That attitude came with playing for Liverpool. I cant remember him at Celtic or Southampton ever being like that. The hype around their players inflates latent egos...and his grew into the size of a planet.

They have made a massive organisational error handing these contracts out to what are, or soon to be, veteran players.

They ran out of ideas and have gone for to comfort blanket. They'll pay the price again this season and in seasons to come. They needed vision, but they got inertia.
