ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

Whatever happened to @BHvisitor he hasn't been seen, since February 19th. I hope he wasn't put off by me outing him, for only posting on here when Everton lose, and only liking posts that were negative about the club and it's players.:D If only he had the decency to offer his congratulations on the derby win, then perhaps bygones could have been left bygones, but we've long gone passed the statute of limitations at this stage. This man was acting like an Everton fan in his first few posts. It was we this and we that, and then he said he's actually a Brighton fan, and it was all your team this and your team that, why do you hate the reds so much etc. Will our forked tongued friend from down south ever return?

the RS are valued at £5.33 billion, apparently:

I think that's a decent deal for FSG. It possibly pushes the rs into the post-Covid world in a similar financial position as the pre-Covid one. If others fall back in the short term, they will be left at the European Greed Club closed shop with a bit more breathing room to get past the required squad rebuild. I wonder if this has been sold to the new investors by pointing out a potential new European structure that benefits them for this part of the the FSG group's holdings (no idea about baseball finances so no comment on those).

I don't see that they'll change their policies overly though as the new investors are investing into the FSG strategy as much as anything. So it'll be interesting how that plays into their transfer strategy. No doubt they'll be getting der best players in der werrrrld in the summer now for sure ... and the best asthma medicines!!!

That investment is in Fenway not the rs. It stabilises the parent company. They still won't spend money on players. Their plan is to spend on infrastructure so the club increases income and therefore profit, and they will then spend a proportion of that profit on players. That's a sensible business model, and one that Moshiri will hope to get to. However, it does mean that currently they won't be buying many expensive players.

Agreed. I do suspect that they'll be going down the value for money route for some time now. How they manage the older star players as their contracts start to run down alongside the need to replace them longer term will be interesting - I think this investment might cover the immediate downturn in cash through the tills over this and probably next season. I think in the current climate, treading water might just be seen as an acceptable outcome for most teams. It's why I hope that Everton might be able to steal a march on those around them if they can take advantage of FFP falling away.

Just seen an interesting article questioning whether Robertson is even Scotlands best left back. I thought he was the GOAT. He is definitely a player who VvD made look better than he was. If VvD doesn't come back as good as he was they could be in big trouble.

quadruple injury blow for Real Madrid? So it begins.

Hazard, Carvajal, Valverde and Kroos all likely to miss the first leg.

I don't think Hazard has been fit much this season at all.

I still fancy Madrid, but it's the worst Madrid side in about 25 years this lot. If they loseto them, it's a bit of a pitifu effort. Genuinely frustrating they will avoid most of Juventus, Atletico Madrid, PSG, City & Bayern who would all knock these out with ease.

I'd even fancy Koeman to outfox Klopp as well to be honest.

This Liverpool team should be nowhere near the CL latter stages and yet they’ll probably end up getting to the final again. I’ve never known anything like it. Teams like Juve Arsenal City Chelsea Barcelona even United need to have their best teams of all time just to make a final. Barca haven’t won it unless they’ve had an absolute worldie team. Arsenal’s best team lost in the final. Chelsea made two finals in their golden period winning one. City haven’t made a final yet, PSG have just made one recently. Even United only got there with their treble winners and their O8-11 vintage of Rooney Ronaldo Tevez etc.

Liverpool just seem to be able to have a run at least to the semis almost every time they cobble a half decent team together. How they made 2 finals with the side Rafael had is beyond me, how they ended up there in 17/18 also, 18/19 fair enough (although they were unbelievably fortunate). If this current side gets anywhere near the final it’s ridiculous.
