If you were drawing parallels between Everton now and City back when Mancini was in charge, do you think that's a reasonable assumption? Back then City had bought frequently and expensively with some coming off and some not so much, but there was a reasonable backbone which with the sprinkling of world class talent really could perform from. I think Silva and James are very comparable to their impact on each club also - a bit of star quality is added that previously wasn't there. Aguero and RIcharlison even though different kind of attacking players match up in terms of positives. We also have a Joe Hart clone in goal!
I know every season is different, and this one is an oddball especially, but being a city fan, I would very much like to get your take on how we look this year compared to back then with your team. I know there's only 33 games to go so it may be a bit presumptuous. Either way where better to discuss it but in front of the rs lurkers on their thread!
If it had been one of his centre backs, the fury would have been immense from him. But it wouldn't be lingering like a bad smell. He'd give it full blast and then leave everyone knowing where he and united stood without starting to look like an eejit and bring ridicule on themselves. Mind you, he knew how to play the media and mental side of the game as well as anyone and that's why he's one of the all time great managers.

Mailbox: Liverpool have got away with plenty over the years...
The Mailbox features selective amnesia, PPV, season-defining injuries, and what has Ole done to Eric Bailly?www.football365.com
Certainly they did, and still do (I'm whistling innocently at the John Stones deal) in some cases, but they do seem to be more focussed on who they targeted or that might just be in my mind as they were getting league titles and so on since then so it appeared that they had a plan. I'd probably be a lot more critical if I were a City fan.TBF they (City) did have a few seasons where money was spent without much sense. Aguero was the first player they bought who was self evidently better than everyone else (and KdB aside, he still is).
Only you could have come up with that lolThey’ll be wary of the flying Pickfords......
Bloody hell mate. I nearly fell asleep just reading that post lolWhen my lads were young, I would tell them stories I made up about a character called Freddie the Fish, (who lived in a cave at the bottom of the sea, with sand for a carpet), and they dropped off near the end, (and after school, Freddie's mum made sausages for tea).
Will give Anfield a call. We all need to rally round in these difficult days.
That Busst one was horrendous, remember a picture after he went off,a bucket of water being used to swill the blood off the pitchAs has been rightly spoken by fellow blues, its never nice to see anyone injured, and let's be honest there have sadly been too many absolutely horrific injuries during all of our viewing of football.
Gomez and Coleman's injuries recently for us were much worse than Dykes, resulting in them being stretchered off and on oxygen but it got me thinking of the worst during the Premier Leagues time.
Haaland gets mentioned most but that is partly due to Keane's behaviour but there is a shocking list.
Worst probably Busst. I remember it due to Schmeichel reportedly vomiting at seeing it. Checking Busst had to have 26 operations and never played again.
Cisse had one of the horror leg breaks as did Ramsey, Eduardo, Nils, Ben Arfa, and many others.
Cech's skull being caved in which almost killed him. Similar was Ryan, was it, the lad who never played again?
Mabbutt almost losing his eye.
If there was a list of the worst injuries VVD, sad as his injury is would be nowhere near it. The media circus, however, and the kopitery of the last few days would have those not connected to the sport thinking it was the worst sporting injury ever.
Shane Duffy nearly died on the pitch didn’t he ?As has been rightly spoken by fellow blues, its never nice to see anyone injured, and let's be honest there have sadly been too many absolutely horrific injuries during all of our viewing of football.
