ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

To be fair mate I’ve been to about 30 games over the last 3-4 seasons, but that was when I was living in town and obviously getting to the stadium, and the financial aspect was a lot easier with the proximity.

I don’t think anyone would choose to follow us as a fair weather fan, given some of the absolute dross we serve up on a regular basis, plus I don’t think necessarily that watching all the games on tv or stream is necessarily a bad thing if you can’t get to the stadium - I think the big difference is the amount of their fans I know who literally watch 3-4 games a season, but when they do anything make out they’re the worlds biggest megafan, whereas I’ve not met many Everton fans who don’t at least stream most of the games where possible

Nail on the head there mate.
There are numerous 'supporters' of every club. Not all are in a position to go the game.
There is a massive difference however between a non match going Evertonian and a non match going red in my experience. The vast majority of those claiming to be die hard Liverpool fans would struggle to name more than 4 of their players. They are the type who ask "who are 'we' playing next week?" Sadly there will be plenty of that kind around for the next few weeks.
I have no problem with a bit of ribbing from genuine reds. It's the jarg ones that will be trying to rub it in.

No one chooses to support Everton, we are chosen

It annoys me when people from outside the city of Liverpool assume that all Scousers are fanatical supporters of LFC. I was in Bristol last weekend (adhering to social distancing guidelines) and most of the people that I spoke to were stunned when I said I didn’t want LFC to win the title. One couple, big Bristol Rovers fans, didn’t even know that Liverpool had two Premier League clubs.

It was always coming, they’ve been unreal up until covid came, running out of gas and I was sure we would have beat them.

Can put up with the local and fans who have a connection, but im already dreading the ones I meet down south with work or social who say we’re irrelevant or why support them.

Always struggled to not go mad about how they’ve just chose a team etc without being aggressive.
