This is how this goes. Once one European league makes the call, the precedent is se and dominos will begin to fall.

Most of these leagues don't have a spoilt manchild of a fanbase like LFC to worry about, so it will be much easier to do.

If you look at the numbers if we don't get a grip of this virus, we are at 1 million infected by April. Maybe 100k officially so. If thats where we are heading, nobody is going to care about Rudd or Van Dijk. Other European leagues will have been cancelled and voided, and it will be a formality.

They are putting a brave face on it now, for varied reasons, but this won't hold.

This is coming. I saw a bit from Pearce and Carragher yesterday. Carragher was being particularly snarly with Neville. I would imagine he is either aware of something behind the scenes which is shifting, or is concerned at what might happen. Neville wasn't even saying a lot, just suggesting it might not be completed. Neville had him on strings and Carragher apologised.

James Pearce immediately shut down the fake news story about 75% in a black and white way. He would usually countenance it with a caveat such as "but we'll still be handed the title". There was none of that arrogance at all. It followed multiple Kopites talking about killing themselves, or rioting. Absolutely tasteless given the situation we are in.

It's starting to happen. That cretin on Sky Sports News talking about those arguing to void the season as "flat earthers" was a particular highlight. It will get much much worse soon.

Ideally league restarts in August we finish this season, then a break, then play the euros in Jan/feb, then a break, then we have the world cup played April/may all over the world, home games at home, away games at the away stadium, semis and final at wembley.

Next August league resumes

There's a very real chance that we won't have football until August, hell it could go beyond that until 2021 so what RS fans are asking for is for the whole of the sport to be completely put on hold for all that time just so they can have their moment and lift a trophy?! Duckworth Lewis is used to resolve singular games in cricket, in a sport that has a broad tradition of resolving games in that way. It is a more numerical game and more easily suited to numerical calculations.

This approach would be wholly inviable for football. It would be wholly inviable for an industry who's decisions are going to cost hundreds of millions. It's going to be wholly inviable for resolving multiple games. It's wholly inviable for a group of clubs who have not pre-agreed to it's use to then have it foisted upon them. It would not stand up to any scrutiny in a court of law (and it would be torn to shreds).

Anyone suggesting Duckworth Lewis as any kind of solution clearly has no clue what they are talking about and should cease to be listened to by anybody else, such is the stupidity of the suggestion. I saw the rentagob from the Anfield wrap spouting on about it recently. That alone ought to invalidate their channel from being consulted of what to do on any of these matters moving forward, such is the stupidity of the suggestion.

Yes people's memories are going to move very quickly beyond this point, and want a fresh start, not to be plunged back into the chaos of this spring. Life moves forwards, they will have to do so as well.

Goes beyond that too. BMD is in jeopardy if this virus becomes an annual occurrence. Champions League, World Cup, pretty much the entire sport is going to have to be re-evaluated.
