ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

Gotta love the effort the Premier league/media had gone to with the Xmas fixtures.... Most teams play again on Saturday, Liverpool play again on Sunday...

Fair enough if Liverpools opponents also have a 2 day rest right?... But their opponents Sunday are Wolves... So ofcourse Wolves are on TV tomorrow, so have less time to recover for Sunday.....

Irrelevant now of course, but it wasn't when the fixtures dates were decided... 2nd Xmas in a row when Liverpool have been given extra recovery time between games than their rivals...
Liverpool played on Dec 26+29 last year.City played on Dec 26+30.

I'd love them to blow it from this position as it would be such a hoot but lets be honest, they're are so far ahead they don't have any 'rivals' for the title right now so I don't really think it matters when the sides in 2nd and 3rd play. That is the bottom line.

Them playing a day behind us over the next two games gives us an extra days rest before the FA Cup tie so I'm certainly not cryarseing over when their next two games are played.

The weird thing is, those days that happen to every team where it just won't go in, and it 'isn't your day' - it just isn't happening to them. At all.

Something isn't right. I accept they are a good team, but I refuse to accept that they are 'thirteen points by Christmas better' than anyone else. Decent front three and a couple of decent defenders, obviously. But a workmanlike midfield and no strength in depth. It really shouldn't be enough for this to be happening, this steamroller effect

Can’t recall a full back having this much influence on a team as Alexander Arnold. Robertson is no mug at left back, but the young scouser at right back is a playmaker. Roberto Carlos was the best attacking full back I can remember (Dani Alves not too far behind), but I can’t recall a playmaker playing there. The ‘Kevin De Bruyne at right back’ comments I got tonight. He doesn’t just whip in crosses like a standard attacking full back does, his is precision passes, often with a bend to take the ball into the path of the attacker (exactly what De Bruyne does, but from midfield).

I wouldn’t have watched the game tonight had cousins (who are reds) from Texas not been over for Christmas and I’ve not seen Alexander Arnold play since the Barca plebs got caught out by his quick corner in the 2nd leg of the CL semi, but I get what the fuss is about. Stats can say one thing (most PL assists over the last two seasons), but to see how it’s done really tells you more about the player, and that fella is a player.

I don’t think you are taking into account how poor the rest of the league is though.

The table never lies. They have a world class front 3 and to call them "decent" is quite frankly deluded. They also have the best goal keeper and defender in world football playing for them.

2 points dropped all season proves they are "13 points better than everyone else"

They are the European Champions and haven't lost a league game in 12 months. I used to watch a lot of Bundesliga football and all you have to do is just go back and look at Klopps Dortmund team and you will see the early blue print of what he has done at the RS.

I knew the minute they brought Klopp in it was only a matter of time before they started winning big titles again. United massively missed the boat not getting Klopp in to replace Fergie.
