ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

All what you say is very true. But we matched them quite well home and away last season. We could have taken four or even six points with some better season. They have a better team than us, better form and it's at their gaff. But if we have a bit more belief, who knows?
Indeed, every game is winnable.

TBF, that goes for most football fans. We've done the hyperbole and set ourselves up for a fall 3 years ago. All football fans are the same. Extremely precious and defensive of their team. When your team is winning they're great. When losing, we don't like oppo fans giving it out. But that's rivalry. My wife and 2 kids are Reds, they've been giving me a good ribbing the last few weeks. It's hard and it's frustrating as I can't really give anything back at the moment becuse of where they are. And I'm not exactly gonna start calling my wife and kids murderers! etc etc. It just seems on here, with each passing win for them the tone is becoming more nasty and sinister. A lot of the things on here wouldn't be ok if it were said of them in a boozer, yet it's taken as being ok on here. Some of their fan base don't cover themselves in glory but neither do ours. By all means, let's have a laugh at them but let's get back to banter without being nasty. I dread to think of our fan base if they did win the League, it's best enough now.

If Liverpool were one point away from winning the league, id like to think we could to our next away day and push a wall down on some opposition fans.
That way the top four will be kicked out of the league despite having nothing to do with the act committed by us.

Given their defence of Heysel, i would like to see their reaction if god forbid, it happened again involving other clubs supporters.
Infact id like to think that im a decent person so football or not, i wouldn't wish it on anybody, never mind mock it with the Steaua Banner.

To be fair i will put my neck on the line and openly admit that i agree with you. Just because you recognize the mess we are in and how Liverpool are the best side in Europe (its hard to admit and just my opinion), does not mean that you are a red.
Here is the thing though, most of our fan base are full of bile towards them because they always treat us with such contempt and look down on us. Now in terms of the table they are looking down on everybody but here's the thing, when Leicester won the league 99% of fans i know were happy for them, they weren't a bad fan base and deserved to win it. The 1% that wasn't happy or thought they didnt deserve it?.... A Liverpool fan. Could not give one decent reason why he didnt like them winning it.
Same with Man City, most fans aren't really bothered but guess what one Red fan said to me? He hates them winning it because they 'bought it' you know because Liverpool didn't spend a billion pounds in the PL era to NOT win the league! Hypocrites much?

So heres my view, yes Everton also have idiots within their fanbase, but i guarantee they are fewer than Liverpools. Its always the Reds down south or foreigners who are blamed for negative behaviour, yet the famous atmosphere (which only turns up for UCL home ties) is 110% scouse. Its proper weird and thats before i rant on about their lust for media attention.

If you are a red id just admit it tbh, you may get some stick initially but what do you expect? Im sure we have had Leicester, Spurs, united and Arsenal fans here before?

Maybe the younger element will be boosted by a derby win. But its not the be all or end all for the more realistic Blue.. I dont give a stuff about the RS. I do give a stuff about our shambolic situation though and whats happenng to our club... again.

Fair enough. But having to put up with smug RS fans at work, many of whom have never been near Anfield, it would be lovely. And what's the point in football if you can't enjoy a win against a local rival? Each to their own though.

Genuine question as much as it might be in the wrong place lol

is there a legitimate reason why they keep getting legged at the Kop end?

Of all the things you can throw at them over the years that kind of thing was never something you could say.

Now it seems that everyone is at it, United, Napoli, Roma and West Ham all in a few seasons. Seems weird that it’s just started

I think it’s terrible that we bring up Heysel every now and then

The only reason i ever bring it up is because they refuse to accept that our downfall from the early 90's onwards had Heysel as a massive contributing factor for our best team frittering away. Then of course there were other factors later on during the 90's such as poor management from top to bottom that put us in rapid decline. The fact they then mocked the tragedy with their banner and general attitude kind of leaves a bitter taste. Especially when we share the same city, friends and family, its horrible to think that they just brushed it under the carpet.

What i will say is that i never use it as a tool for petty point scoring, they shouldn't and we shouldn't. I think the whole thing is sort of typical of their attitudes to others, better than us in every way.

You're right of course. Maybe its that Im longer in the tooth I guess and able to repel their attempts to engage in their sort of dialogue. The idiot ones at school/work/the alehouse are usually just blowbags. The rest I can endure cos Im not really interested in their inability to talk football except about their own club's poor treatment by referees/VAR/the media (however much RS infested)/deliberate fixture congestion to thwart their title bid/Sky zzzzzz etc etc

I don’t care what they do as a club or fan base. I just think it makes us look really bad when we bring Heysel in RS discussion. I think if we were successful and winning silverware, no one would even think about Heysel let alone use it an arguement. It’s just that whenever we are down and not able to justify our downfall and their success, we bring up Heysel. It makes us look really immature. At the end of the day, we know that we are better and we are certainly not like them. We should not fall to their level and take a cheap shot with Heysel. We are better than that.

What does getting legged mean?

Agree in the main mate but not with the bit highlighted. Only because i don't think it should be forgotten whether we are winning or not - but i get your point.
What never sat right with me was the attempts to shift the blame elsewhere, be it who started it, be it traveling hooligans from other clubs or their own from other parts of the country, they would of been better as a fan base (taking into account the small minority who might not of agreed) if they held their hands up and said they got it wrong and there was no intent. Instead, its brushed under the carpet and many found the Steaua banner hilarious. I did not take offense to it as a blue but as a human being who loves the global game of football regardless of allegiances, colour, religion etc....

Do i think it should be used to just score petty points when the blurred lines of 'banter' is crossed? Absolutely not.
