ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

I asked you to link to where “Sterling has all but said” the RS are to blame and you come back with that? A good article, telling us what went on. An opinion piece, just like yours but with a slightly different slant. If you look back at the beginning of the article, you will see..........

Sadly though money came to define Raheem Sterling, entirely unfairly but through a course of events that can be made sense of. He was no longer adored for his instinct to entertain, nor admired for his ambition and self-belief but rather labelled as ‘greedy’ and in the same manner as ‘Cashley’ Cole before him the player became a by-word for footballing excess and entitlement. More so, his highly publicised switch from Liverpool to Manchester City in the summer of 2015 was the most controversial and fractious since Sol Campbell limousined across north London.

Still doesn’t explain the bolded statement above though. You can’t find it, can you?
Sterling, Cole and Campbell. I wonder if it is a coincidence that the three names the articles throws up are all black players? And given the RS institutionalised racism, is it any coincidence that they boo Sterling, but not any other ex-player.
I would think if any ex-rs deserved booing it would be Gerrard as he single handedly buggered up their chances for a league title, manipulated a bumper contract by threatening to sign for Chelsea, and then running down his contract so he could leave on a free transfer to get a bumper payday in Murica

My God, why do people look for a racist slant on everything. Cole and Campbell ? You’re talking about 2, maybe 3 of the most controversial transfer over the last 20 years, nothing to do with colour. Let’s replace them 2 with with 2 of our players crossing Stanley Park under similar circumstances, which is comparable, especially with Campbell moving to Arsenal from Spurs. Do you think they’d come in for some stick? Were we racist when Xavier left us to play for them? It’s not about colour, players can be criticised and despised without race being brought into it, Barmby had death threats, hate mail and was absolutely slaughtered when he played against us.

institutionalised racism? Have a look at this excerpt, not good reading I know but that is what it was like back then, not that long ago either.

That excerpt is hilarious. From claiming any criticism is decried as racist (which is nonsense) to following it up with "coloured lads" in the next paragraph. I'd be a little wary about what sources you choose to back up your argument.

Edit: Scroll up to the Uriah Rennie story... (n)

Double Edit: It just gets worse the more you read.

If you're going to make excuses for racism, maybe don't cite a book making excuses for racism.

eh? What sources? it’s called Google. i was there from the 80s up to 2004-5, I know what it was like. And that’s not far off. I remember the fan trying to get at Amakachi On his unveiling, the leaflets at the game, Izzet getting it bad because he was Turkish. All clubs have a bad minority.

When you cite a published work in support of your argument it's called a source.

Don't you mean Alex Nyarko ? Daniel Amokachi spoke publicly about how he loved the club and felt it was mutual.

If you want to discuss racism and Everton football club, make a thread on the Everton forum. I think you'll find that Evertonians are more than aware of our history with racism and would love to have a place where we could work on a way on ensuring that it is eradicated from the game and that Everton areat the forefront of this, and bringing in reforms that allowed everyone, no matter who they are, to enjoy the beautiful game.

This isn't RAWK. You can say anything you want about Everton if it's a legitimate point you are making.

However, you do realise you are on the rs are rubbish thread don't you? Come on, tell us from that 20 year period what made you laugh at the rs the most? Or even what made you despise them the most - I can think of one or two from the 80's which probably ruined your viewing experience thereafter, can you?

At least spell his name right.

I've just been trying to find something about this racist fan or leaflets on the internet but with no luck. I was there at the unveiling and remember nothing but I was only 20 at the time and obviously to young and naive to understand that the welcome we gave him was anything other than a warm one. Did he have on a blue or purple suit - or is my memory failing me on that too!

Anyway, tell us about the minority that are a bad bunch at Klanfield. That's the point of this thread.

The day after England are knocked out of Euros? When most of the country were coming to terms with a defeat in a tournament most seemed to think we could win? That didn’t deserve criticism? Don’t try and put a racist slant on it, it was the timing of it. As well you know
Nobody thought england would win it... except the english
