I really don’t see how they can allow football to restart whilst there is still any form of social distancing enforcement in place (Even behind closed doors). Imagine you are a small independent bar/cafe/hairdresser/tattoo studio and being told you still can’t open up and allow customers in whilst a bunch of overpaid footballers were allowed to have close physical contact whilst producing the various bodily fluids that could aid transmission just so they can maintain their ridiculous salaries.
”Oh it’s alright, everyones been tested” - yeah well they can’t even get enough tests done for front line health and care staff yet so that’s going to sit really nicely as well.
But then we do have a Tory government in charge so anything is possible. If they do allow prem football to start up again whilst restrictions are in place I won’t be following any of them from that point onwards.
Here's a scenario.
Do this whilst on lockdown or heavy social distancing measures.
Test players , they come back fine. Except someone catches the virus between games, gives it to other players. Perhaps one or two from a team catch it badly and have to isolate , second test for the team = can't continue playing
Then what? Can't have those players play any more games which means noone else can play.
Delaying the inevitable again.
Waking up to another wave of the combined media trying to push this season over the line propaganda.
Trying a new angle of free to air behind closed doors games would be the ultimate tonic for the nation.....
Thousands still dying worldwide every day...
Big money footballs current lack of self awareness is truly sickening on so many levels.
I said it a few weeks ago but the way football has operated through this is embarrassing. Why a player who makes 80 grand a week or more can't take a cut of those wages to pay the people working at their own club is selfish beyond belief.
Never mind the club's that could go under , these players won't even help out the staff who they work with on a daily basis.
Proof that football is beyond saving now.
