To be fair, the athletic does in depth stuff on every club. I only really read the Everton stuff and I'm very happy with the value for money.

James Pearce wrote the article, so no surprise in that. Interestingly, he responds to a comment on his piece saying how he was asked to 'provide context and how they got there in the first place'.

Which makes me think the club would have been better staying quiet. They'd got the misplaced credit and seem to want to undo it immediately.

"Leaked". How can it have been leaked? It wasnt a secret. Quite sure the staff knew before their letters were sent out. Why blame a premiership rival? If you know or suspect just say it out loud. The way they do it is once again playing hard done to.
They were going to furlough staff. No ifs and buts.
