How many people's houses are getting knocked down for this one, then?
Liverpool have confirmed they are to abandon current plans to redevelop Anfield in favour of a more ambitious scheme that will increase the stadium’s capacity beyond 60,000

I doubt it'll be homes that our sacrificed because they've already been slowly bought over time. Instead, I think Anfield Road itself may be lost and the right of way.
Unless the stand can hold suitable increased seat numbers, including hospitality which had previously been stopped by the council, then it won't happen.
I think the council may be more sympathetic this time and the fans will ultimately pay for it through the tickets and hospitality, as they won't fork out themselves.
This might even been a way of giving the council a slight nudge by saying, 'Look, we want to build but we won't unless it meets the numbers that we require.'
