I’m confident he will be fine, he’s only 22 and although Havertz and Nkunku aren’t world class I expect them to improve. Nkunu especially, not if Havertz keeps on getting played in positions he shouldn’t be in.

I mean, Wirtz will probably be fine seen as he plays for them - on the other hand their other recent huge transfer was Nunez and he is crap

I live in Germany and follow this with interest. He's a very talented player - the best young German player of his generation. However...

Whisper it: Germany really hasn't been producing the calibre of player we have traditionally associated it with. Technically, Wirtz is excellent. So is Musiala. So are many others. But one thing most of the current generation lack is...a winning mentality. Wirtz has been no great shakes in the national team over the last 12 months. Leverkusen didn't cope with being champions and Wirtz was no exception. I think that's understandable, but there are doubts now that I didn't really have when he opened Euro 2024 with a bang this time last year...

I was convinced when Liverpool signed Jürgen Klopp that it meant very bad news for everybody else. It absolutely did. Similarly, when they got Luis Suarez from Ajax for a song.

As talented a player as Wirtz is - and he is - I am not at all as sure this one will be the nightmare for the rest of us Klopp and Suarez predictably were...
