ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

Only for 1 team. The others not so much, if at all.

Sheffield United, Villa, Bournemouth, Man United, Wolves, Spurs, Norwich, Newcastle, Chelsea, Man City and Arsenal would also disagree, given they all have lots' riding on the remaining games.

West Ham, Watford, Brighton, Southampton, Palace and Burnley would probably be in favour of voiding / indifferent.

And that's just in the top flight.

I think the difference is those teams want the season finished so they can rightfully claim their reward.

One team has a lot of fans wanting their "reward" even if it doesnt finish

Or lose it, as the case may be, but on the basis of competition - as set out fairly at the start of every season. If Sheffield United went on to miss out on EL or CL, after the season has resumed, I don't think they'd have too many complaints.

I don't think you could award them the title without awarding places elsewhere (ala relegating certain teams and awarding European places to others) which is where it gets messy, and that's why it won't happen in my book.

There's a slim chance we could see some sort of play-off for those places though, providing it was safe to do so.

Those two comments are incongruous.

Not particularly, they both ensure an even keel, competitively, for everyone - at least on the basis of this season. Either the season is played out as set out at the start, when it's safe to do so, or the teams and the league reach an agreement to determine the outcome of the competition via a few play-off matches.

If you said to Villa and Bournemouth you're going down on the basis of things or you can play a game or 2 against your rivals to decide who goes down, they'd obviously prefer the latter. I'm sure it's one of many ideas being considered to resolve all this but would need to be properly mapped out and agreed upon beforehand.

Can you ever admit to getting something wrong?

You think these teams wouldn’t want the season voided? Why?
