ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

It is. It's corporate.

It was completely crass and an attempt at positioning the brand.
I bet there's a few blues in my shoes when it comes to this song.

My nans side are reds and at her funeral (nearly 30 years ago and I was just a kid) my dad (a blue) was happy for that song to be played. I remember thinking that I would find it funny hearing a footy song and was joking about it earlier in the day. When it played I just burst straight into tears. I never boo it at the Derby and I actually get a bit emotional as I think of my nan.

So to have it rammed down our throats for commercial gain and virtue signalling at every opportunity as well as all their daytripper customers signing off every post or tweet with it really boils my pi$$.

BBC: "I know, let's shoe-horn in some statistic for our lads and deflect from the fact they're midtable"

Where are they going to go next, I wonder when an International weekend comes up and Sky decide to show a Lincoln game, on the Sunday. Obviously nothing about them to shoehorn in, oh wait, Lincoln have a corner and then we hear 'Lincoln have a corner, there is another team that begins with L and had a corner last week, Liverpool, I bet Lincoln fans are sat there now watching this event unfold knowing that they are walking with the great Liverpool FC.

Also, all this '9 for Olivia' stuff is up with there with their worst, they really do have a massive scumbag element when it comes to self promotion because that is all it is, we can see it, the majority of people out there can see it, yet they get to do it without public and media critique, most media actually join in with them.

Liverpool are a football club for the times we live in: sensationalist, trashy and without any moral compass. Everything gets turned into a soap opera and any event they start out commemorating ends up as self promotion.

I've said it before many times: they should have been wound up in 1985 when their fans murdered 39 innocent people who just went to a football match - but they killed them and they never went home again. Anfield should have been razed to the ground in 1985 and that should have been the end of them.

The commentary team (don't know who they were, but they're all equally bad) for that game also managed to squeeze in a mention of Liverpool and "Trent" for no apparent reason.
Doesn't happen by accident. Liverpool FC have a media department that will be on at the media to make sure they are promoted at every turn. And those media outlets know that it pays off for them if they do so with clicks. The LFC PR machine also know who to go to to kill negative news stories. And they are very successful at that.

Add to the mix that the media are infested in any case with Kopites and their ex-players and it's no surprise that we are swamped by their presence.

This, of course, is for a football club that have won 1 domestic title in 33 years. They'd be laughed at in Germany, Spain or Italy for calling themselves a top club with that record. A good cup team and no more than that.

Stop legitimising that asterisk. They won a highly compromised title and they should not be given a free pass on this.
