ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

You can think that all the media is RS obsessed - and you know what, a large chunk of it is. I agree. Some of it, like Sky, has purposefully gone that way, because they're a successful club with a huge fanbase that loves to go over the top about any achievement and that's what drives hits and clicks and all that nonsense.

But at the same time, just a few posts ago you said 'you hate the murdering cult' (or something along those lines), so your opinion is biased just like, let's face it, we all are because we're there rivals.

I've looked at it objectively. I know people who were there in a professional capacity and said it was bad. I trust the reporters that were there too. I also think Liverpool fans as a collective generally tend to cause trouble but that being said there was nothing like this in Madrid, or anything in Kyiv (I accept, that is a much harder place to get to). And just because we hate them, doesn't mean we should be happy that a brutal police response and lying authorities (whether that's UEFA or elements of the French government) should be given a pass.

Sounds familiar?

What are the four main characteristics of a cult?

Checklist of Characteristics
  • The group is focused on a living leader to whom members seem to display excessively zealous, unquestioning commitment.
  • The group is preoccupied with bringing in new members.
  • The group is preoccupied with making money.
  • Questioning, doubt, and dissent are discouraged or even punished.

it wasn't but it was what was initially claimed by UEFA
You want/expect some gods eye view to be totally omnipresent and commentating the absolute most strict details in real time?

Life isnt a computer game.

Again and still not answered from much earlier in the thread, did you want them to allow (by stepping aside for the masses that had no right to be there) or incite a panic (by announcing violence and crushes at the stadium entrances-followed by the pepper sprayings)?

Kopite hooligans turned up hell bent on access, line of defence after line of defence fell until it was doorstep time, mob rule ensued.

now crying because dangerous crowd dispersal was required.

"its all the French its all the police"

get knotted !

No one is. Only one party is though. The ultimate culprits.

I mean, plod muck up a banged to rights murder case, sure, they are at fault for a crap prosecution case. But they didnt murder anyone. The culprit did.

So whose fault is the murder?
Obviously the murderer.

But the point of proper organisation is to weed these divs out before they can cause damage. And that's what UEFA and the authorities got so badly wrong. Then they lied about it and that's what angers me.

If they'd done their job correctly, and all this had still happened, I'd be happy to blame Liverpool entirely mate.

I think it's fair enough you being objective mate, and makes for an interesting and important point.

Like you, I have a lot of sympathy, especially for supporters with legitimately purchased tickets.

I do also have sympathy with the authorities though. The reality is, way more fans than had tickets turned up. People turned up with fake tickets (perhaps knowingly). People climbed over the fence to blag in. We know this as LFC fans bragged about it online. Nobody on the LFC side seem to be able to acknowledge this. There is video evidence of this, and LFC fans own accounts tell us it happened.

This led to a situation that was difficult for the authorities. They probably didnt deal with it well. But I'm not sure there was any easy solution.

What do people think happens though, if they blag in without a ticket, when the capacity is hit? What options do the authorities have?

I do hate them . Make no bones about that.

at the same time I’ve said UEFA’s poxy allocations cause these issues in the first place , I’ve said both them and the French police should be held to account. Same with the local lads being opportunists and worse with the robbing etc .

so why is it unreasonable to not want Liverpool to admit they have a proplem with a big element in their support and those who make money of the support ?
Heysal, Athens , Basle and now Paris has all seen these issues occur , they have form for it. Even Istanbul people bunked in . They have considerable form for it .

is that really that biased on this subject ?

the media , the government and Liverpool fc themselves are absolutely petrified of liverpools support . and we all know why.

we got banned out of Europe for 5 years because of these yet they still can’t admit any guilt for anything

I have sympathy for both. I just think looking at it through the spectrum of 'we hate them' isn't healthy.

I'd imagine they tried to stop people blagging in, selling fake tickets and stopping thousands travelling without tickets. They werent successful. Why were fans without tickets encouraged to travel?

No I agree.

And for the most part I dont hate them.

I have sympathy for them, particularly the ones who legitimately bought a ticket.

But why is there no acknowledgement that people without tickets travelled, people with fake tickets tried to enter and people tried to illegally gain access? Never mind an honest discussion of what the impact was of those things.
