My memory was they looked like skin head ultras the red arm bands to suggest they was police made them look like fascists, French police for you I suppose.
One thing I have completely forgotten is national and local media backing Everton fans, strangely enough I seem to remember we got slaughtered by the media and the liverpool echo splashed a picture of chaos and danger, it was that dangerous amongst the death and carnage in the picture was an Everton fan eating a cheese sandwich.

The first reports in the media pictured the “Everton thugs” when It was actually the french police ? which shows your memory was bang on.

There’s the cracking picture of the old fella just carrying in with his bevy on the step just yards away from the police.

Liverpool must take responsibility for organising travel etc - that could have been done. However, it's also on UEFA. And then as soon as those fans got to the ground, there would have been the same issue, their safety was in the hands of the police and UEFA.

I'm a bit uncomfortable with the stick that @BlueToff is getting. He's a good blue although I do respectfully disagree with some of the stuff he's saying here.

Insinuating he's a RS or biased towards them is however, in my own humble opinion, unfair.

Spot on . It’s impossible for someone for doesn’t live amongst it to understand the depths certain scousers go to making money . we are on another level to other city’s . Look at the drug trade for example scousers run it in this country. These same people preach socialist values yet won’t work and are anti establishment. This type of scouser are the hungriest for money and in all honesty it’s sickening the lengths they go to make it . It’s the same with the crowd who have to be at every major event By whatever means necessary. There’s no wonder scousers are feared in Ibiza and at festivals.
This behaviour trickles down to the non scousers I’ve seen it with everton .

but @BlueToff is the expert apparently.

fortunate for everyone else that been waiting for them to cop a shoeing. I for one am a very smug little chap. when the french investigation produce thousands of fraud tickets in some sort of judicial crystal dome theres gonna be howls of laughter and derision.
