OK see your point. However the problem is that the French tend to call all from the British Isles "English".
Much to the annoyance of my Welsh and Irish friends. And of course the Scots too.

@EverTheOptimist what's your opinion on the tricky reds knocking out blag tickets for a sold out match?

I was at an Ireland game in Paris a few years ago and couldn't believe how heavy the police presence was. This was long before the bataclan attack etc. This would have been a very low security risk game as Ireland has virtually no history of crowd trouble.

Even after the match around bars and clubs the police were very visiable. Tbf they were absolutely fine with street parties and general jocularity.

Those blag tickets will probably grt them through any perimeter cordons. At the gate a different story. Thats when the poor behaviour will start. Jumping turnstiles, 2 on 1, disabled doors, threatening behaviour, bribes.
Its not a case of if with this lot

The French generally like the Irish. They consider them as sort of allies against the English. ?

Anyone whom went to Lyon a couple years ago will testify to the heavy police presence in and around the city centre the night before the game.

And on the fringe of Place de Bellacour where we had all assembled on the afternoon of the match.

I saw that on twitter, apparently he has been providing genuine tickets all season but was playing some sort of long game to reel them in and has cut and run with all the money for the final.
