ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

I still think people aren't grasping how much ffp is holding us back as a club. It was designed to keep the same teams up there and we are seeing further proof with this signing.

Liverpool strengthen again while we are clutching at straws getting man utd rejects on loan. Don't get me wrong we need van der beek right now but we are falling so far behind.

When Man City got their money they signed who they wanted when they wanted and are now in a position where ffp is easy for them to get around with champions league money etc.

The fact we couldn't sign this diaz lad because we couldn't release a player is a bit of a joke and now he's signed by them lot makes it an absolute farce. We are so far behind challenging for top 6 it's unreal and the real issue here is ffp more than anything else. You can blame the board, kenwright all you want. But when the rules are setup for some to fail I think the actual issue is glaringly staring everyone in the face.

Blame the rules all you want. We spent over 500m. We had one chance to crack it & we failed. City didn’t, they brought the right players to progress & traded players & upgraded to get to where they are. That’s how it’s supposed to be done, not waste millions on crap players that we can’t cash in on. FFP was designed to stop clubs going massively into debt & putting clubs at risk of going under, not to stop other clubs competing. We could have competed if we hadn’t of spunked it all. Now, we’re at the crossroads with a big weight around our neck in BMD. Unfortunately we can’t now have a team AND a Stadium because of bad management.

They'll sell Mane or Salah in the summer. This is the replacement.

I don't buy all the FFP stuff. If we really wanted we'd still be spending big.

Liverpool siging 2 attackers, both primarily wingers now gets them settled for the summer. They also have Elliott and Jota. Think wiyh one year on his deal left and not looking like signing a new one, Salah will be off

City went through all kinds of crap players before they eventually broke the monopoly and they spent way more than we are allowed on wages and fees. Not to mention the competition in the league was far less then than it is now.

They signed players like Robinho, balotelli etc. The difference being they didn't ever have to stop spending. They were outspending the big boys every window and signing ready made players. For example persuaded tevez to go to them instead of re signing at man utd. Could you imagine us being allowed or able to do that?

Yes a lot of money has been wasted but it's not exactly been easy and some top managers have 'wasted' this money. Because of the current landscape the players we have signed have all been players the top clubs haven't wanted, whereas City were able to get the players the top clubs did want.

City were handing out cheques left right and centre that would instantly break ffp rules in this day and age. We have been spending a lot but nowhere near what they did comparatively. In my opinion the board have unfairly been scapegoats.

Perhaps it would have been more prudent of them to allow someone like silva a longer term and accepted that it would be difficult at times. But fans wanted instant success. Fans didn't want moyes either.

Maybe instead of some pointing the finger at the board and kenwright all the time, it might be worth looking at everything holistically and it suggests that there's more to it than some think.

Who's this 'we'?

Losing Salah still weakens them a lot though. He's carried them over the last 18 months.

So how does that work then, spurs bid 38m and it's rejected, rs bid 37m and it's accepted
Most likely due to the shrewdest one of em all Daniel Levy demanded to pay £100 a day for the next 427 years instead of money up front. You gotta admire the shrewdness of Levy eh. What a legend. Missing out on hundreds of good players due his downright shrewdness.
