I always thought it was Pirate related - a homage to Robert NewtonIt will go forever... arrrrrrrgh!
That reminds me why I chose my user name, but I think it was more Everton induced.
Perhaps we'd just lost to Portsmouth when I joined?I always thought it was Pirate related - a homage to Robert Newton
They are a true oddity, while there's rivalries between clubs, usually there's a common bond amongst football supporters about their love for their football team. I've met supporters from all over the country and abroad and there's generally a common knowledge about football. Most football fans understand, you have your good days and your bad days, match going supporters have gone through the highs and the lows.Add to this excellent post, the RS BS that they (team and fans) are so sporting. I have supported Everton since I could crawl - over 50 years and I can tell you that I have never met or known a true sporting Kopite yet - my wife included.

If you've never invested into your club, you haven't gone on a coach in 4:30 in the morning to go to Chelsea, you've never had to wait for four hours for a Semi Final ticket, you haven't watched your team in a meaningless game against Bate Borisov at home in the freezing cold, travelling 12 hours to Lille on a coach, gone to Spurs midweek. What do you really know about supporting your team? They think they're being funny by talking about us releasing DVDs for certain games, however most fans with the exception of them would still view them as achievements.
All these divvies who say they can't get tickets are liars, it's true that you'd struggle to get a season ticket at Anfield, but even for derby games in recent years, they've struggled to sell out their ground. A few years ago you could of got a adult Utrecht ticket and as many kids tickets as you liked free, they still couldn't fill the ground. The number of match going Scouse RS I know is pretty small, however miraculously, when they got to the final in Madrid all these people were match going fans.
Also remember those divvies who were singing Munich at a wake, now it would be bad enough before a Man United game, but it does show their strangeness. They only seem to really care about football, when they play in a big game, or against us or United. Walking around Asda on a Monday morning dressed head to toe in Liverpool regalia, having a life size Jurgen Klopp in the back garden, which you then reveal on live TV. Add to that decorating their houses in RS gear, plus calling players by their first name, as if they're best mates as they are a complete oddity.
