ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

I think they're just saying a player is injured for a few days here and there now so they top the 'Days Without A Player Through Injury' Chart that has only become a thing in the last fortnight.

When the alternative premier league table doesn’t give you what you want, just sack it off and invent another one to be top of.

Top of the injuries if you only count Liverpool’s injuries and no one else’s properly table

Didnt they have a "number of days at the top of the league" table earlier in the season?

That aged well.

They astonish me with their stupid data.

I'm flabbergasted that a table, that essentially doesnt count long term absentees as having any sort of validity for measuring injuries.

clinton morrison on 5live, my god he couldn't be more up liverpools backside if he tried. nobody's had their injuries, nobody misses the fans more, etc etc :(

@catcherintherye - just to answer you both on point of order

I did a bit of a dig on line - I think the below gives perspective. The numbers are stark and paint picture, but squad management has to be point of blame for it.

With regards to the general point of it being discussed more this season, I'm not so sure, I think we are closer to it because of the derby, but injuries are a key part of the football news cycle every year. Even in recent weeks, Southamptons crisis has got plenty of coverage

Data before last weekends round of fixtures:

I wonder is JPG included in those figures

The more they believe the excuses, the longer it will take for them to address the fundamental issues. So, I hope they continue to delude themselves.

For me, it all boils down to breaking from what appeared to be a winning formula, I. E. Buy players just shy of their best years, pump them up on peds and sell them off one by one to continue the cycle.

I'm not sure it was ever sustainable though. How many continuous were there ever realistically going to be? For how long did they expect the recruitment to continue to fill the pipeline of big profit sales?

...and how long did they expect a squad that was only 14 deep was going to remain injury free? They had a massive run of very little to no injuries and that papered over the cracks in terms of squad depth.

I personally think they will delude themselves for quite some time even after Klopp leaves, probably until the next manager treading on thin ice.

They have very little in the form of saleable assets that they can get away with selling. I am optimistic they will be a long time coming back. The issues they are having are not down to the defense, which has not been as bad as I would have expected.

completely agree with your first line - dont buy the PED's theory personally.

See
I havent validated them mate but they are provided by 21stclub, a sports data consultancy offering insights to clubs as well as media (according to their blurb) - their site looks interesting.

I have no reason to doubt, not the time to double check. that's what i based the initial numbers on; skysports also showed a similar chart, which showed days per team and it told a very very similar story.

Either way, it doesnt change the point that these are probably self inflicted wounds.
they are provided by RAWK

I do often look for a tl:dr summary
