ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

There's only really Henderson and Thiago capable of 'hurting' anybody, so to speak, so we really need to watch out and get in on the referee every time they stick a foot in. Need strong leadership, which might be a bit of a problem. Without that they'll get away with whatever they want. Can definitely see them being completely let off with a handful of early fouls only for us to pick up the first booking for a nothing tackle.

That rat Robinson will 100% be flying around looking to nail someone

It's not just a winner either, but I suppsoe it's a short termism in mindset. He hasn't broke the squad up at all.

They see it likes traders, stocks go up and down, and as long as the trend line is up, you're ok. They haven't got the money to be top all of the time, but if over a 10 year period they can be top 1-2 times out of 10, thats better than being say 3-5th every season. The issue is, on the seasons when you slip to say 8/9th at the end of such a cycle, do the fans kick in and go from a did into a collapse (as happened with Hodgson, to a degree with Rodgers and whats being threatened here). Klopp's short termism exacerbates this.

One other aspect of this, which I forgot about, but they got done for nicking City scouts and and intel about 3-4 years ago. Before and after that there were a lot of duds signed. I do wonder if now they haven't got access to this they are a bit snookered.

As for Gerrard I don't know the ins and outs, but remember the reports and Clark saying something about how his Catholicism has nothing to do with anything (and wouldn't impact effort levels against Celtic if I remmeber). It was pitched against something Gerrard had said. So without being explicit, he had made mention of it. I mean it goes beyond just mind games, he was making a direct appeal to his clubs fanbase. He is adept at that, he knows how to blow the dog whistle. Even for a Kopite he's particularly bad for it as well.

You look at someone like Carragher, who's obviously died in the wool red, but he's pretty straightforward with it, and you never get the sense he's constantly angling for a job there, or to undermine people, or wind them up to get himself back. Once Klopp goes, slippy's PR machijne will go into overdrive. Expect all sorts "English coaches" "knowing the DNA of the club" "wanting to build a legacy" etc will all come out.

Edit, and yes Rangnick would be perfect for what they are trying to do. Even though most Kopites would probably hate him.
Gerrard took a lot of backroom staff from Liverpool with him when he went to Rangers. Ilm sure if he was seriously in the running that would be talked up. "Bootroom" culture blah blah blah.

On the Clarke thing: he's just cynical enough to leverage that stuff against another manager, so I can well believe he knew what buttons he was pushing.

In a nutshell

The media are going to pile on the pressure and the referee will buckle

Only human at the end of the day

Klopp won't be leaving yet, they do need henderson back in midfield tho and he probably will be for the Derby
He should put Henderson and Fabinho back into their natural positions and play two real centre backs even if they are from the youth team.
With VVD getting injured he's hit the panic button and has started playing players out of position all over the place. He's also forced Thiago in the side where he doesn't fit and that has changed their very succesful style of playing - long balls over the top to his front 3 and its gone seriously pear shaped for them.
He doesn't have a squad of players who can play in different positions and he isn't that tactically bright to pull it off.
Basically, he's been found out and is floundering to correct it. It couldn't have happened to a nicer guy and bunch of players.
Long may it continue!
