ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

Firstly you are right - it is hard to judge, but prior to him signing for Liverpool, I certainly would have been aware of him as someone who was building a reputation for himself quite quickly. I suppose alot of that was due to the Halo effect of playing with Haaland & I have been quick to point out in the past that for every M'Bappe there will always be a babyoko so perhaps his reputation lifted with the ship, as Salzburg's reputation developed.

Quick look at the stats (transfermarkt); he scored 64 and assisted 44 at RBS; in league and Europe in 199 games, that is a pretty solid return for a player who played behind the striker rather than up top during his time there.

Yes I was more going off his league stats. It's 44 goals in 6 years in the league. For a striker, in that league it's very ordinary isnt it? If you were going to make the step up from such a league you'd be wanting a goal a game or to be 20 (or both in Haalands case).

I think it's a similar problem that we had with Tosun really. Yes we paid a bit more, though Tosuns record was far superior (had just come off a league season with 20 goals). The premier league is a different world though. Without power or pace, you really struggle to transfer skills across. And if you are mid 20's and have never played higher, I'm not sure you really make that transition. Especially with what is a solid, if unspectacular level.

Thinking on it, I think they hoped they were getting a prototype Firmino. I'm not Firmino's biggest fan and a lotof the guff about him borders on ludicrious (some of that let genuinely believe he's better than Salah, they have a weird cult thing around him) but even so, Firmino is levels better than Minamino, and wouldn't have been kicking round in a b rate league in his mid 20's.

As for Hassanhuttl. I suspect it's a stab in the dark. 500k, probably not even contributing all of his wages, it's a shot in the dark. Liverpool will not miss Minamino though.

I thought one of the echo journalists had said it was Tsimikas? At the same time he was patting us on the head for getting James.

They talk such utter rubbish about their signings don't they.

I mean you'd think they would just be happy with Salah, Mane, Robertson who have all been good buys. They seem to want to prove untruths though (to quote Karl Popper) as some some of validity test to be allowed into the cult. "We will only let you in if you prove your stupidity by arguing a rubbish Greek left back is better than Luke Shaw" and that sort of stuff.

Why have they signed a defender from Schalke who just went 35 games without a win?
Because they are absolutely Boracic mate!
For a team that are the current champions with a big chance of retaining it and through to the
knock out stages of the CL - they finish up with a £2m signing of an average championship
player and a loan deal...
Not only are they shopping at B&M bargains they are hunting around for the 'buy one get one free'
deals. Laughable.

Genuinely can’t really believe what I’m reading here.

Nobody had heard of him before yesterday and now it’s being hailed as the deal of the century.

And what’s it got to do with KFC anyway!?

Remember last January when Minamino was the signing of the season?

Won't pretend to have followed Schalke, but they've been on an utterly Chernobyl of a run the past year or so.

Christ knows why their CB would be that highly regarded.

I can clarify (i think).......

There is a parody twitter account called @indykaila. He is a spoof artist, who jokes about having inside scoops on transfers & links to agents etc. To the best of my understanding is it is all in jest and light hearted, with no specific one club affiliation, but he has managed to grow north off 300k followers over the last few years.

The running joke with his account is he is a KFC worker & as soon as he posts something (Eg - "big news at goodison this evening", it will be followed by an onslaught of KFC references, that is where KFC come in. They seem to have someone decent doing their Social who has managed to leverage this in terms of engagement
