ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

I posted this image earlier in the thread back in October, and I think it underlines my point...

That is intent to damage Pickford's ankle and clearly going over the top of the ball.

Of course, he gets away with that because the Kopite media make a song and dance of Pickford making contact with Van Dijk.
Behave.
I've made many Van Dijk jokes but Pickford would have given away a pen and got sent off if it wasn't for the offside (makes it funnier in my opinion).
Just rewatched it in full. You cannot seriously call Pickfords actions evasive.
At the time though there was barely any fuss on the pitch.
RS media hysteria in full flow started by the usual RS commentators sa soon as was possible.

Van Dyke has previous for studs up tackles that are meant to hurt opposition players. He has executed such tackles on a regular basis and got away with it by the officials. On this occassion he came worst. If you look at where Pickfords leg / shin is in that photo it could have been seriously nasty.
No chance of the media ever doing a frame by frame analysis as it simply does not suit the SKY / PL & media agenda.
That's an ankle breaker potentially by Van Dijk. His foot would have gone across the top of the ball and down and into Pickford's ankle. Pickford possibly sensed as much and adjusted himself for protection. The collision was the result.

It's a case of the biter bitten.

Anyone who's played football knows that situation Pickford found himself in. You can see the ball in front of you and then you see a pair of studs showing above the top of it. You get out of the way as best you can, even if that means getting both legs off the ground to avoid getting your standing leg or ankle snapped. Pickford;'s momentum then sees him collide with Van Dijk.

This was an utter joy to read. Full of self pity and excuse making. It's a tour de force in cry-baby fan journalism.

Notice how the author is doing that pose where he puts his hands under his arms so it looks like hes got biceps.

pickfords "tackle cum assault" is apparently a warershed moment

Stopped reading after that

You have to laugh at the way they go on about this great Anfield atmosphere, it's like a morgue most of the time and the only time they actually make any noise is when one of the so called top teams go there.

I worked on match days when i was a student (i needed the money!) with the exception of the YAWN karaoke at the beginning, its like a library. Baffles me how many buy into this great atmosphere malarkey.

The author of that article knows it. He just cant bring himslef to accept that the reason they are getting cut adrift from the top of the PL is because they aren't all that.

It was just a freak collision. If anyone seriously thinks that in that moment the ball was in the air Pickford thought ‘I know, I’ll pretend to go for the ball but really just try and clatter Van Dijk risking giving a penalty away and getting sent off because I’d quite like to ruin his career and their season’. Of course he didn’t, he just threw himself at a loose ball about to be turned into the net. He could have been red carded for it because he missed the ball, but the media’s constant and continuous depiction of this as a ‘horror challenge’ is ridiculous. Challenges which are premiditated full of rage like Keane on Haaland or Nolan on Anichebe are horror tackles. Pickford and Van Dijk was an unfortunate collision. Unfortunate for Van Dijk but he’s injured a lot of players himself in his career and he’d already thrown around two completely unecessary challenges at the start of that match which were intended to put James and Allan out of the match.
Or Son on Andre

Everyone is clocking him now.

It's funny, I spoke to my mum last night, who's got a masters degree in phsycology and a further qualification in Education Phsycology (works in that field) and she was scathing of him. Said he came across as an abusive but charming man, who was gaslighting people with his behaviour.

It's odd, as she's of a generation that didn't really have the Everton/Liverpool hatred. Very much Everton 1st Liverpool 2nd (yes it hasn't passed on to me!). Loved the 86 and 89 cup finals even though we lost as a celebration of Merseyside. Whenever I'd go on as a kid about what a buffoon Evansm Houllier, Benitez etc were she'd always pipe me down and say I was being ridiculous. Surprised she kind of came on out with the stuff about Klopp, just can't have him at all, and gave her rational.

I think it's starting to seap through to the wider public really.

He's just really false. The pious Christian evangelical who likes to get drunk all the time. Doesn't really add up with him much. I bet he's got some really views on homosexuality and abortion and things like that. The more I see him, the more alarm bells go off.
I mean I'm sure there are some Blues who are just bitter and hate all RS players and managers, I'm not really like that. Benitez didn't mean what he said, with regards to the small club comment, I think it was a genuine mistake, it was out of character. Klopp is a strange one, because all his behavior seems contrived. When he came to Liverpool he took pictures with fans, drank in local pubs, things like that. Then you have all that bizarre fist bumping to the Kop. Sometimes managers have quirks but it fits with their personality, Wenger complaining about referees, SAF complaining about decisions fit with his personality. Even Hodgson lost the plot once in an interview. Klopps behaviour seems to change in a few seconds, he can go from really angry to polite, which isn't normal.
