Your claimed he was the best ever when I said he was garbo.

For me hes the best in the world currently, but that's the lowest bar ever, there are no world-class CBs around anymore.

I;ve never said he was the best in the world. You'll never find an example of that. I said he was as good as anyone down here when he was at Celtic. I lost track of him at S'ton and never commented on him, and that's because I thought he'd found his level. He had.

His best qualities are attacking the opposition. He's a second rate defender and gets away with his (danger/goal saving) fouls by virtue of the fact that he plays for Liverpool and they'll get every decision.

If someone were to offer me a Tony Adams quality CB or a Van Dijk one I'd take the hand off them for Adams.

Top class defenders aren't consistently nowhere to be found for most of the goals his team concede. Van Dijk isn’t even in camera shot for a lot of the goals they ship. The real top defenders are where the danger is. He’s 30 yards up the pitch bellowing at his partner who is trying to do some actual defending.

I watched him playing for Holland a year or so back against Germany. He was absurdly bad. He made Carl Tiler looked like Beckenbauer in comparison - that sort of bad. All over the shop: the FBs didn't know whether to stick or twist; his CB partner wasn't sure whether to close up with him or stand off him. Hopeless.

Best ever. FFS, he's not in the best 1000 ever.

Amazes me that clubs are willing to shell out millions for these lame ducks.

Evidence of the RS being able to 'Big Up' their mediocre fringe players, knowing they can flog them at vastly inflated prices to gullible clubs.

The players you name are proof positive of this fact, just because they have been on the RS books is no evidence of ability.

Sadly loads of clubs fall for the RS b******t.
