I think you're reading a bit too much into it.

A decent performance by a Liverpool player in one game against a very average side is far more impressive than 40 champions league goals in the 6th quickest time.

You're forgetting that he hasn't had any sleep since Saturday as well.

Nah. I think @PaulPowersTash has it spot on. BBC reporting on Liverpool has always sat uneasily with me. This past week the diatribe unleashed by the BBC against Pickford and Everton has been an utter disgrace. The BBC is sadly infested with kopite cockroaches, who crawl out of the plasterboard at every opportunity, only to slink away when their scruffy fans commit yet another atrocity.

I obviously haven't really been looking at BBC anti-Man City bias, but given that the infestation is now obvious to all. I can only empathize with PPT.
