ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 2

I'll be surprised if Liverpool have another season like the one just gone. They won at least 12 points
from offside goals, dives by Salah and goalkeeping disasters. Not to mention SLY Sports scheduling virtually every single game in favour of them week in, week out. We (City) were always scheduled to play after them so the pressure to gain a win was cranked up again and again and again - every single week. I still don't know how we won 14 games on the bounce home & away but thankfully we managed to pull it off. We also took 4 points off them last season and it should have been 6. Marhez skying a penalty to win the game at Klanfield at the death. VAR won't stop Salah diving like he has been shot to cheat the officials and win a penalty, in fact I think that may possibly get worse. It might however, force the officials to rule out blatant offside goals which as I say I reckon they had at least 11 or 12 of them last season. To gain 97 points and not win it must be a crushing blow. Especially when they had a 10 point lead. Ultimately they blew it and they know they did - a 10 point lead is a big lead to lose. They were totally crushed when we beat them at the Etihad. You could see it on their faces. That's when the doubts really started to kick in. They also know now that City are capable of putting a winning run together that they can't match. I'll be surprised if they exceed 90 points next season.

I think they’ll lose either Tom Daley or that ugly little rat Mane.
Keeping their style of play might be difficult for them. Kick and rush football needs speed up front.

Agree with a lot of this, but as far as this 97 points thing goes..
It wouldn't have won the league the season before either would it.
You have a special side and it could get even better still.

I agree with this. I think that City's ambitions are beyond anything that we have seen before both on and off the field. The City fans I know are all looking at transfers for players who will strengthen their team not just for today but for seasons to come. They really are a well run club from the playing performance side of things - FPP be damned.

The rs missed their chance. Once City win a CL, it could be a couple of decades of success for the Mancs as that seems to be the length of time before a dynasty collapse in football terms, but it might be one of the most trophy laden periods for a club.

The big question if we have ambition is how do Everton take on City?

Liverpool wont get 90+ points again. It was a freak season for them. It was a highly unusual season for Liverpool in the sense that they did relatively poorly against other teams in the top 6 = 19 points from a possible 30 ; but didn't really slip up aginst the teams outside that level. It's usually the other way around and they lose and draw many times against the non-elite while doing well against the elite.

Last season will be part of the sequence of a challenge every so many seasons.

Don’t think Liverpool will be a threat in the prem next season. They’re nowhere near as good as City and couldn’t beat them even with every card stacked in their favour last season. Their football towards the end of the seasons was as ropey as anything. They could easily drop back to a top 4 squabble with Chelsea and Spurs.

They’ll be a huge threat again in the CL though. They’ll be out the group after being seeded and so will be once again into a scenario where theres only 3 opportunities for a decent team to put them out over 2 legs. So if they draw a Porto or a team who can’t play away from home they probably only have to traverse one tricky tie to make the final again.
Great post mate.

If that happens and City go clear ahead in the league after xmas, then Klopp will put his eggs in the CL basket.

Top 4 finish will be to easy for them, so i could see Klopp rotating in the league and being fresh for the CL games, i wouldn't be surprised to see them back in another final, begrudingly have to say they are a excellent 2 leg cup team and teams capitulate when they go to their ground which gives them an advantage in the ties.

I’m a bit confused by this post as it actually resembles reality and I find myself agreeing with it.

I like the post but any chance of using punctuation to assist in reading? I know I am a pedant but it is part of my job to edit material.

Well done by the way.
