ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 2

This talk about Spurs being bottlers, it may be true over a longer period, but getting through the QF and SF in the circumstances they did doesn't suggest it to me.

The final is an absolute free hit for them so what a glorious opportunity.

LFC on the other hand, absolutely MUST win this.

Even with a favourable media, Klopp won't escape serious scrutiny as the bottler-in-chief of finals if they come away empty handed.

I would imagine Mourinho for one would love to draw attention to it in his new role of pundit.

I might even buy the LFC season review if they lose this, as to watch them end up with nothing under these circumstances would represent quite breathtaking failure.

Anyone that even gives Spurs 1% chance of winning is letting themselves in for disappointment. They won it at anfield vs Barca, that was the worst of it.

They’re gonna win it and they’re gonna say 6 times instead of five times, it’s irrelevant to us. They’re still gonna be horrible murdering mutants regardless

I think the mutants might do it, but giving Spurs 1% chance. Really? I'd put a lot on at those odds.

Let's hope Klopp and Co. are as confident as that, if they are, their mentality will be all wrong and they will get beat.

Dismissing Tottenham’s chances in such a derisory fashion is just plain wrong.

This match is very much in the balance......Spurs’s comeback in Amsterdam was even more remarkable that the Barcelona capitulation at The Pit.

The RS are favourites and may well win the CL final....but this game is far from a foregone conclusion.

Tbh when they were finishing 8th and 6th all the time they were still unbearable. Considering the amount of money they’ve chucked around they’ve actually been woefully unsuccessful recently.

Probably just giving myself false confidence but what I'd say is that spurs wont have anything to 'bottle' as such. They're expected to lose.

Also they have shown bottle on a few occasions in this competition.

The 2nd point is true and one to cling too. The 1st 1, I would say they are not great as underdogs are they?

As much as I joke about it, I don't actually see Spurs as bottlers. Or Liverpool, for that matter. But Spurs, in particular, based on their incredible frugality in the transfer market and having to build a new stadium, have performed far better than they should have over the last few seasons. Yes they came close, but far closer than they should have. It's only really bottling it if expectations and the potential ceiling were high enough to win big trophies in the first place. If Liverpool don't win the CL or PL this year after all they have spent, that would be a bottle job of massive proportions, but they have more or less performed at or slightly above expectations the last few years.

Thats a fair argument and one which was used a lot about ourselves under Moyes. i see the two things as different. Spurs have undoubtedly over performed when you look at what they've spent. However they have bought extremely well, and given the quality of team they've had over recent years its hard to conclude they haven't bottled big moments. Most of their fans think this too (though express it differently.

%100 Spurs have this. The three week build up is a nightmare for Liverpool, everyday they train and it must be on the minds of the players that they did just that for an entire league season, train hard for a league campaign, and came out from that with nothing after gaining a 10 point advantage over City.
Its like the team who comes 3rd in the Championship never wins the play offs, the come down from that failure is too much, same will happen to Liverpool.

You're the daddy if it comes true carlin:dance:;)

As much as I hope they don’t win it, maybe if they do it will give the people upstairs at Everton a kick up the arse. They’ve floated along for far too long delivering nothing hiding behind ‘well Liverpool spend well more than us and don’t win anything either’.

Liverpool are claiming that even Madrid fans are behind them. Really hope all this hype kill them in the final. I think Poch is way better than Klopp and he deserves this win

lol

Of course they are behind them.

Those fans are still seething at how their centre half committed GBH on Salah last year.
