Houses boarded up for a few years in some streets. They stayed like that for years. I knew people who had lived there and they said it was awful. No team is bigger than a community. A lot of people had grown up in that area and raised their own kids there. Many of them were reds fans. I know someone who lived in Tancred Road, about 10 streets back from Lothair Road. He was brought up there and loved the area. He is a red, and supports his club, but he hates what they did to his area.
Yet they genuinely believe they are a 'family' club. You ask any of them what has the club ever done that would warrant that tag and they can never give an example. Even in the last few years we've had -
U23's sleeping rough for homeless
EITC continuing to be ace
Bill giving people a fiver to say thanks
Fans receiving letter thanking them for their support
Cheap season tickets for kids
That's a family club, yet they still try and claim something they'll never be.
