I don't know how much the SOS paid Henry Winter to write that rubbish about why people should want the rs to win the league. Why should it matter to them? Surely they should be happy to win the league after waiting 30 years? But they're not. They have to be loved. They're like a petulant child, who has to win all the time and then seeks affirmation from their parents about how amazing they are.
Well get this Liverpool fans. Proper football fans HATE YOU. They hate your cringey rubbish, your banners and your overblown sense of entitlement. You haven't won the league for nearly 30 years. For most big clubs that would mean ambivalence from other fans, yet Liverpool are the 2nd most hated club in the country behind Man Utd, a team that has won 13 league titles in that time. Doesn't that tell you something? When Gerrard fell over and you lost the league, was there an outpouring of sympathy from the country? Was there heck. Fans up and down the land were delighted that you cocked it up, because they knew how unbearable you'd be if you won it.
Look at this Guardian cartoon from David Squires. This sums up what everyone thinks you'll be like if you win the league (or 3 months before knowing you lot). You are a laughing stock. So, for once in your lives, if you do win the league, just enjoy it for what it is, a good year where your team was the best.
