ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 2

I don't know how much the SOS paid Henry Winter to write that rubbish about why people should want the rs to win the league. Why should it matter to them? Surely they should be happy to win the league after waiting 30 years? But they're not. They have to be loved. They're like a petulant child, who has to win all the time and then seeks affirmation from their parents about how amazing they are.

Well get this Liverpool fans. Proper football fans HATE YOU. They hate your cringey rubbish, your banners and your overblown sense of entitlement. You haven't won the league for nearly 30 years. For most big clubs that would mean ambivalence from other fans, yet Liverpool are the 2nd most hated club in the country behind Man Utd, a team that has won 13 league titles in that time. Doesn't that tell you something? When Gerrard fell over and you lost the league, was there an outpouring of sympathy from the country? Was there heck. Fans up and down the land were delighted that you cocked it up, because they knew how unbearable you'd be if you won it.

Look at this Guardian cartoon from David Squires. This sums up what everyone thinks you'll be like if you win the league (or 3 months before knowing you lot). You are a laughing stock. So, for once in your lives, if you do win the league, just enjoy it for what it is, a good year where your team was the best.

Fernandino and KDB back and Aguero up to full speed is massive.

Personally I can only see an easy win for city.

The champions league games give a false idea of their respective abilities. The game at the Etihad saw city have 70% possession and 20 shots to Liverpool's 5. Aguero didn't start and kompany was injured. Then they needed an outrageous piece of officiating to stay in the game, which meant city had to chase the game (They wouldn't even have had to do that if the RS didn't have the extra man at the pit as well) which meant the RS got two flattering goals at the end.

City to win 3 or 4 nil. Under the lights and a full house will see a good atmosphere (for a change) and the mutants will wilt.

It should be close as Liverpool's wage bill is higher and their squad cost a similar amount but I think a keyed up City will show their class.

I will name my first born after you if City win 3 or 4 nil!

Sadly I can only see that lot winning. Going to be grim night.

Surely an over-reaction...albeit a conceited one. That cordiality you refer to dissipated in the 80s when Everton had the temerity to play breathtaking football and win trophies left right and centre....and the neighbours started to get somewhat restless and rattle their bin lids over it - our cheek in upstaging them. That's a well known matter of fact and, from our point of contention, especially when coupled with the European ban on British teams 'for you know what' which hurt us more than any club. Its an exaggeration to suggest most of today's Everton fans have a hatred of the RS - its on a par with the myth that everyone in general is a fan of Liverpool...we dont….and they aren't either. Personally, I don't care about them (...and Ive cleaned that up). If you're as regular a visitor to the forum as you suggest, you'll have noticed the dull regularity with which some Kopites think theyre smart coming on here. They act the Blue... with their googled stats and faux recollections of games they never went to and their posts pebbledashed with critical asides. More to the point is that at the same time, they're so thick to think that we don't see through them pronto and that they are merely being humoured and toyed with on here. In conclusion, you cant really blame some bona fide Blues smelling a rat sometimes.
I think you will find it was only English teams.

I've no idea who is to blame more than the other. As always, there are massive tools on every side of an argument. I know some absolute muppets who follow the RS and I know some absolute muppets who follow us.

Of course, if you can provide me with some concrete, proven statistics then I'll surely be better educated on the matter.
Provide you with some concrete....

We all know what happens next..... unless you’re in bed

Have you got evidence SOS paid Winter mate?

Tonight is a bigger game for Liverpool than last seasons champions league final... But the points gap kinda means they can play without the pressure of that.... Much more pressure on City to win, and they've shown (as has their manager) that they don't handle pressure well..

Sorry mate, wasn't digging just thought it might have actually happened. It's actually feasible which says an awful lot about the great British Press.
They don't need to pay journalists, most of them are middle aged men who probably grew up in the Home Counties supporting Liverpool (those who didn't play for them!). As with most walks of life though, most journalists are out of touch with what "normal" people think, which is either they don't care if they win the league, or they really don't want them to.

That is the thing that I have never got, they are widely hated or at least not liked very much and are ridiculed (as a fan base) up and down the country yet the media still keep on peddling the myth that all football fans [should] treat them as their 2nd club.

I think I have mentioned this before but living abroad I have had to educate so many foreign football fans as to the hatred other sets of fans have for them. I always use the Gerrard song (that was sung at every ground the season after the slip) as evidence of this and in the main they are always shocked because all they get is the warped media version of events.

Incidentally, below is the most "liked comment" below the line of that cartoon:

I'm already dreading listening to Liverpool fans in my social circle and on facebook as the season goes on. The biggest hornblowers in British football, usually before they head for a mighty fall. I don't even have an English team but I hope City win it so we don't have to listen to them droning on and on they are endless.
