ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 2

If this was last season's City I'd have no hestitation in sticking a fork in Liverpool right now. However, City are going to drop a good few points yet.

For me the realistic betting would still be:

4/6 Liverpool
6/4 City

...a lot better look to the table than a month ago for sure, but still Liverpool's to lose.

Feels like it needs a weekend of a Liverpool loss and a City win to swing the dial back. Whilst they have the lead and some dubious decisions going for them it would take City to be perfect to do it and they don’t look likely.

Still, City gaining 2 points on them when they had Arsenal has to be a shot in the arm for City and a blow for the Kult. If City take 6 from us and United (as they are capable of at their top level) then pressure would be huge on Liverpool to match it.

Would love it mate.

If Howe is an Evertonian, well box it off you square jawed biff and give us some happiness

It would be a perfect script. He absolutely rattles the kopites on their own turf with a brilliant display, Silva gets fired, he becomes the Everton manager on the back of that performance and promptly loses 4-0 at home to them. I would take it all right now for the Bournemouth win though.

United do their job and our players find a spine then it's back in City's hands. Spurs have played themselves into this position on numerous occasions. Be great if they could take the next step and go within 3 points, especially with Kane and Alli due back.
If Bournemouth take anything off them think the wheels will come off Liverpool.

Still can´t get over that Origi chance at the end not being flagged. Linesman has got the 18 yard line making it so obvious he was offside. VAR will ruin their chances in the years to come.

They really have no concept of reality ‘everyone will be happy’. It’s been a 6 month long media jizz fest from everyone concerned whilst Liverpool have been winning. ‘Those pesky scousers’. They really do see themselves as some sort of socialist upstarts don’t they, the under dogs made food against der oil money teams. They’re the biggest establishment club going and smashed two world record fees in the last year. They’re like Real Madrid trying to cry in the poverty card. Utterly embarrassing.

Another way of looking at it: Liverpool a few weeks ago had the chance to go 10 points clear and now City are within one game of going top.

That must be weighing VERY heavily on Klopp and Liverpool now.

I thought the Gomez injury would have had an effect earlier than this, but I reckon it's just about kicking in now.

Haha utterly correct. The Nigel Farage of football.

Ive said it before the only way for us to dent their title challenge and either beat/take points off them is by sacking Silva prior to the derby and giving the job to Royle until the seasons end.

Big Joe will have them right up for it and will ensure we dont roll over.

We stick with Silva after likely defeats to City and Watford and we'll roll over for them.

Was out for a meal in a Turkish place on Saturday. Several kopites on the table, there is some poppy Turkish music playing. Completely out of nowhere, one of the cretins (admittedly local) goes:

'he he, he he... is dis your new theme tune is it? he he...'

'Eh?'

'he he, is dis de new song for Everton to come out der tunnel?'

'Why would it be?'

' he he, coz yez haven't got any English players.. he he'

What, apart from England's keeper like?'

'Well yeah, I forgot about him'

'Yeah, and there's Baines, Kea..'

'BAINES DOESN'T PLAY ANYMORE!!!'

'He played today mate. And you've got Keane, Tom Davies, Lookman, Calvert-Lewin, Jonjoe Kenny, Walcott. All played today, others in the squad.'

' I didn't know youse 'ad that many English players...'

'That's alright mate, yer a Liverpool fan. I wouldn't expect you to know much about our players....or football more generally... or yer arse from yer elbow. '
That's special. Did they think Cenk Tosun = our entire squad? We've got more English players starting than them! The thing in goal is the only regular English starter I can think of, but he's never the only one on the pitch.
