ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 2

Englishness (as I've stuck above) is a construct of southerness in this country. It's normal people outside of that bubble (who generally don't get preferential treatment) seek to craft their own identity.
It's a fair point. I suppose by shear weight of numbers, they get to dictate the sense of Englishness and also have the media and financial clout to push it, thus alienating those outside of that area. Anyway, koppites are gobs...

I know I'm on a roll in here today, so apologies for taking up the space. I remember saying re Gomez though it would be a big miss, and that there's not a cat in hells chance he recovers from a leg break in 6 weeks (as was being widely suggested by LFC fans and Klopp). Well surprise surprise once again it looks like I've been proven correct again and the spins of LFC have been proven wrong.

There is more going on with Gomez now. Given that he should be in the prime of his physical capacity he is picking up a lot of injuries on a continual basis. I have doubts as to whether he can regularly sustain the level he played at for the last 10 league games (or so) as before that he was very much a second rate right back.

Klopp will desperately try to rush him back for early March. Rather than the sensible thing, which would be acknowledging by early March he'd be missing for 3 months and he probably needs another 2-3 months to get back fully fit and look to write this season off completely.

Look at how his approach has completely destroyed Lallana & Sturridge. Lovren is going the same way as well.

That defence hasn't looked the same without his pace in it (Gomes's). Virgil Van Dijk has also started to look a bit more shaky (as has Alisson). If they lose form, big problems, they will finish 3rd.

Hope they finish second! lol

I understand all that. Everyone & every area has problems, has Liverpool been more harshly treated than the N.E? I doubt it (you will probably prove me wrong with numbers). To be anti-English because of few years of a govenment you don't like vs 2000 years of history seems like a bit of an over-reaction. Obviously its your perogative but by the same token you can understand why it rubs people that are proud of their country up the wrong way.
It's easier to be proud of England when you live in London and everything is centered around the place. This doesn't mean that I'm not proud to be English.

I want Robertson to be the one that messes it up. The RS think he is the goat left back yet he struggled to get in the team last year. He has improved but he is nowhere near the best he just happens to be playing in a team that so far has been very good defensively. Lets see how he gets on when teams start having a proper go at him. As @catcherintherye says above Gomez is a big miss as they are now weaker at cb and also dont have the option in more difficult games of using him as a defensive rb. I said this to my RS mate and he reckoned although he has played well TAA will manage at rb and Matip and Lovren would cover the gap at the back as all they needed was a talker alongside! I think he wakes up and reads RAWK like johnny 5 off short circuit reads a book. He just absorbs all that crap!

MOTD last night spoke about players player vote regarding spurs Son and the rs goalies name was mentioned.

Just like all the crocks at Dortmund before he flounced out in a fit of pique.

History repeats itself?
