If he is outperformed by any of Pochettino, Emery or Sarri then serious questions would have to be asked. Two of them are in their first seasons having to transition from completely opposite playing styles, the other spent zero in the summer. Klopp broke the world record for two positions. It’s second as a minimum or he’ll be under pressure. The uncomfortable truth for them is that he was a missed penalty and a few favourable refereeing decisions away from already being under the microscope. Sturridge’s worldy (a player he doesn’t even rate) and Mahrez’s miss have kept him in the ‘race’ and the wolves at the door.
I have a sneaky feeling Arsenal will do a number on them. He completely out thought Klopp the last time they met and he has a massively superior squad now. Under Wenger they found ways to lose games they ought to have won, he looks to be doing the opposite. He has two of the best finishers in the league up top, a top class creator in Ozil and has given structure to the rest of the team. They look very decent to me. Leno in goal is a big plus too.
They will beat Cardiff at a canter at the weekend, probably a heavy win, but after that things start to look a bit more challenging for them. To me Spurs will get stronger as the season goes on and there is little gap there, and City look like they are ready to go on another supreme run of games where they win almost every week. Chelsea are sticking in quite well. Even United, are not that fa behind them. If by some miracle Mourinho gets through this spell I'd expect them to kick on in the 2nd half of the season.
They've got a lot of decent teams to play as well. In spite of this supposed hard opening fixtures they've played a lot of ordinary teams. Leicester, Huddersfield, Crystal Palace, West Ham, Brighton etc. They still have Watford, Bournemouth, Wolves etc to come. Not top draw opposition, but judging how they are struggling to put away dross like Huddersfield, Palace, Leicester and Brighton more than enough to take points off them.
