It was the Charity Shield, had Liverpool won I would have shrugged and got on with things. It's a game that means nothing. Are we all that desperate as Evertonians right now that Liverpool losing a friendly means we have to get the bunting out?

I ddn't say it meant anything. I said City own them. They do. And it's worth underlining for our many Kopite lurkers.

What do we consider the last trophy we won to be? It's the 1995 FA Cup. How many of our own supporters actually remember or care that we beat Blackburn in the 1995 Charity Shield?

As far as I'm concerned had they won it there is no way they, or the media, would have portrayed it as just a friendly.

Before the game, pne of the pundits on 5Live said that Liverpool were the weakened team and then this was pointed out. He didn’t seem apologetic.
