Player Valuation: £20m
I think there's a high possibility that Yobo and the Yak could be on a plane back within days. The tournament is hanging on a knife edge. The next 48 hours could decide whether the tournament can go ahead, and in what form. There has been a specific threat of further attacks. Even just one further attack would probably be enough to kill the tournament off. Many of the players play in Europe, their clubs have millions of pounds invested in them, and if players start pulling out, the combined leverage of the clubs and the players could create a momentum that would become unstoppable.

The immediate question is whether Togo will take any part in the tournament. If the authorities are going to save the tournament I think they could have to take some radical steps like getting games moved away from the insurgent region.

I'm just wondering what the insurance consequences are if anything happens.................I don't believe in giving in to terrorists but the organisers seem to think nothing has changed

That's kind of what I was going to say. They're acting like it's no big thing.

If a player decided to pull out of the tournament, I don't see what grounds their respective National organisers could have regarding taking action.

Grim comment from Adebayor on BBC.

" You cannot sleep after what we have seen - one of your team-mates with bullets in his body in front of you, crying and losing consciousness "

FIFA have probably got a twitchy backside now, with Angola being relatively close to SA. Not the greatest build up to be honest.
