2025/26 Dwight McNeil

I thought he was terrible and was lucky to stay on the pitch when the first subs were made.

If he must play, he should play centrally as he looked better when he came on against Forest there. I’d prefer we sold him, though.

I think he should've played centrally a bit more under Dyche when Doucoure seemed to have exclusivity in that position but his time has long since passed.

You have KDH who Moyes sees purely in that role and in no sane World would you put McNeill there ahead of Grealish or Ndiaye if you wanted to try a different option.

His time has passed here but I don't see the need to join the pile on for a lad who's always tried his best here and had some good periods of form in periods of turmoil for the club.

He's served his purpose and they'll be takers from clubs in positions this club was in during summer 2022.

He was "fine" today, no worse (or better really)than anybody else.

He needs to go though, his cards are marked by some already regardless.

Like the way Mykolenko is 'fine' as well. Plod along all game barely contributing anything of note.

I completely get we're a mid table club at best right now, but there are still a few players in the squad right now who are so far away from deserving a place here. The fact fans think otherwise is definitely a hangover of how low we sank over the last few years.

Cos he’s so slow he can’t run away from anyone, and that coupled with his one footedness means he is easy to defend against and has to constantly check back to try and keep possession

Such an infuriating player to watch

That’s it in one mate, he is so easy to defend against because he is so predictable. Also all this ‘he works hard’ he’s a winger, we need more offensively than someone who will run around at a snail’s pace and offer zilch in the final third.

If Jack had a cold or something, then he's definitely back for the Forest game, so again it's a straight choice of Dibling (who Moyes praised yesterday) or an out-of-position and in horrible form McNeil. Surely you don't drop Dibs, but this is Moyes we're talking about here.

“Why did you drop Dibling Moysie?”

“I wanted to go with experience and that’s why Dwight keeps his place”

I think the point was that he (like Harrison before him) seems to be treated a bit differently to others. He isn’t good enough if we want to really push on, but objectively he just wasn’t actually any worse than anyone else yesterday and yet has had a fair bit more stick. I’ve seen a few people say specifically that it was unfair Alcaraz was taken off before him because Alcaraz was loads better. To me that’s just pure fantasy, he really wasn’t and it’s just people who’ve decided they’re going to see it that way regardless, which is a bit weird.
