2024/25 Dwight McNeil

It's a bad state we are in, when we are in need of this guy to get back shape-ish for his deadball delivery

We all know Dwight's limitations but he is someone that does quickly get the ball out of his feet, look up and then get a quick shot or crosses in. Over a season 3-4 of those go in.

It is a current football criminal offence to see Doucoure lumbering around offering nothing in the number 10 position so McNeil can't get fit soon enough for me and hopefully another Ndiaye type can be signed this window just to have more options rather than having to start Harrison as soon as one player gets injured.

Our most creative player is out and we are sucking butt at creating anything. Not a shocker in the least. I get why this guy isn't everyone's cup of tea. He is clearly important in this side. I really very much wish that we were able to try him in this 433 early in the season and we might have been able to save our season a bit and fight for anything at all. Without him we look very clueless.

If we’re so heavily reliant on one player to create anything, which is 80% of the time from set pieces anyway, then that’s on the manager once again.

Probably is like that. I would be keen, how many of the big chances he created were actually set pieces, and how many open play.

None the less for me it felt he was the only guy that got our striker in scene once in a while.

Not defending the manager. We always figure things out too late. Dwight was more than set pieces. If anything I'd blame our striker for not putting away his chances from open play. Dom had quite a bit earlier in the season that he fluffed and he isn't the only one.
