He didn't particularly impress me when he was at Burnley and certainly hasn't impressed me in the games he's played for us, but, it's far too early to judge him yet.

It's quite embarrassing reading so many people writing him off. He's, what, 22? Going from a ultra defnsive setup in Burnley to a different but equally crap setup with us. I'd wager a bunch of you lot will be eating crow by the end of the year with him. People were talking of 30m+ just 2 years ago for him. He's REALLY talented, let's stop writing off players before you have any idea.

It shouldn't be surprising that he's getting crowded out when picking up the ball in more congested central areas, though I can't make excuses for the quality of his passing.

The most unfortunate aspect of their first goal was that he'd actually got into a decent position when he lost the ball. If he'd have had a bit more awareness he could have been away. Likewise if he'd taken a bit more care over his pass to Gray, he probably would have got an assist. We'll just have to hope he slowly builds his confidence and things like that come off for him in future games.

If he wants to make it at Everton then he needs to show far more and actually go and get involved in the game. His first two performances have been disinterested and lethargic. I want to see some fight and aggression at the very least.
My opinion is that hes not very good and nothing in these first two games has changed that opinion. Its very clear when you watch him why he doesnt score goals. He doesnt make enough runs into the box and he impacts the game far too much in those middle third areas that have no bearing on the result.

We do have an idea given he has started the season like a dog's dinner, can't sort his feet out half the time and has literally no pace as a wideman. Both of those make for a pretty naff skillset in that position. I hope he comes good but it's not looking good imo.
