John Bailey ?
Somebody without a massive perm.

John Bailey ?
That book was never published. A description appeared on Amazon, but it was never published for sale.
I remember somebody from the local press contacting Alan Patullo about this a few years back and he denied even writing it. I think he claimed it was a hoax, somone using his name.

Hi there, Dunc - legend - made the 90s bearable!
Had a look for you and on grandoldteam.com forums someone has contacted the author and this was his reply, dated 9/11/09:
Thanks for the interest. Indeed, I am the right Alan! In short, and to add what I have said to a few of your fellow Evertonians, I have fallen behind with the book (didn't realise it would be so hard juggling a full-time job as a sportwriter with doing the book - especially given that the subject is one which needs plenty of careful research). Hoping for a release next year though don't know yet whether it will be with Mainstream, the original publishers, since I did not make their deadline of earlier this year. Written about 50,000 words and hoping to tie it up by early next year, and following a couple more visits to Liverpool - and Majorca! Need to nail a couple more chapters. Feels like I have spoken to everyone and his dog so far, from his days at Dundee United, and even before that. I promise you it will be finished by early next year - I need my sanity and life back! But it's been a hugely enjoyable process. Just hope Big Dunc might like it himself....
Thanks again for your interest. Please pass on the message to anyone else that is interested that the book is still very much still happening - and not cancelled.
Best wishes
Alan

"The book we are announcing tomorrow will be the autobiography of one of the greatest players in the club's history"
"Legend is a term bandied around too easily in football, but ours is the real deal. He'd be in 95% of blues' all time First XIs."
My guess Southall. The '95% of Blues' all time first XIs' tells me it isn't Big Dunc
Brian Labone maybe ?
