With the deepest respect to Gary Caldwell, Shane Duffy could walk into that Wigan defence at CB. I fully agree he shouldn't drop to the Championship, though. Not many players had respectable games v Spurs away last season, but Duffy came out of it with a lot of credit from me. That's the performance which told me the lad is PL quality.

I agree that he's better than a few in this league, caldwell being one. He's also better than anything Sunderland have IMO and one or two other sides.

My point was more that almost all prem sides prefer to go for loans for players they can buy at the end, most are reluctant to develop other sides players for them, with the exception of a few of SAF's brightest.

Only a promoted side would go for that and to be fair they will all outspend us this year so don't have the need for loans of this type.

Hi Brian,

Any chance you can ask Shane to hook me up with trials?

When this happens can you ask him and Everton to pay £25 each into my paypal account?

Thanks,

Nik x

he is going to be a cracking player for Everton, he done well a few seasons ago in the Europa cup for us at 19.
then he went to play for ireland and was nearly die in a training game only for the quick work from the medical staff
save him.

so he has done very well to get back to where he is now, please moyes don't do what walter Smith done with Richard Dunne
and sell him.

Anyone else realise Duffy won a header in the opposition box everytime he played for us in the premiership? New Lescott maybe?

so impressive moyes will boot him into the ressies next week, the last thing this club needs is any youngsters getting confident

This. He loves his arl arses does the ginger lad. Duffy will be punted out on loan now to a club in the Faroe Islands.

u know it davers, people can say game time is game time, but barkley being sent off to the ressies very much smells of having his wings clipped again, cahill wont be an option for the first 3 games, let him go off with the reserves and allow barkley to play with 1st team, moyes will look to either sell jonny or loan out duffy, to ensure he can get jags back in the side, hes utterly obsessed with his favs

Lol, Cahill won't play, but neither will Barkley.

Duffy is a young player still and it shows in the way he plays at the top level.
He played well today but also made a number of rather basic misakes with weak clearances and committing himself to the tackle too quickly.
It is a learning process,it will all come with age and experience.

If he can spend one more season taking the best bits of Jags, Distin and the Heitmeister and implementing them into his own game, he'll take center stage and keep it. There's a wealth of knowledge in front if him and he needs to sponge it.
