Should the state legalize drugs, or even some so-called soft drugs? Or are drugs really too dangerous?

I say things need to remain as they are. I'm not saying 'just say no', but 'just say no' to legalization.

Thoughts ...

Why anyone would want to take drugs for recreational purposes is beyond me, i have to take 5 tablets a day for the good of my health, nevermind wanting to see pink elephants on pogo sticks singing agadoo.

So, no, leave things as they are.

This is one that has done the rounds a lot and I remain unsure. One thing is certain the drug barons will continue to make billions, corrupt politicians will get their share and individuals will be condemned to a life of utter misery if the present system continues. In my book drug dealing offenses should be punishable by the death sentence, that is the system they chose to live by whilst inflicting misery across our society. Meet fire with fire

The problem with legalization is that, whilst raising taxes and removing organized crime from the scene, it legitimizes the product as acceptable, like alcohol is now acceptable. That means more people will use the product and become addicted to it.

Make no mistake, most drugs are very nice. Far too nice to begin with. Allowing people the the opportunity to head down that road legally is asking for trouble.

Just my opinion, but the correct opinion! :D

No. Absolutley not. If a drug doesn't kill a person from its use, the person could end up killing somebody in his induced state. Imagine somebody high as a kite driving a big-rig at 60mph down the freeway, or doing critical maintenance on vital gear. Who would like to be without electricity because some guy high on drugs was responsible for blowing a generator up with his drug-induced maintenance. It just begs belief that people think this would be good. And these are just two examples of a million that I could give.

erm...depends which drugs you are talking about tbh...i think the law is abit stupid on drugs, i think they need less punishment for certain drugs, and more for others...

Also the medical implications etc...

so basically...i dno :unsure::huh:

Alcohol and Ciggies are no worse than most drugs I suppose. Alcohol is easily the worst. I would ban them first. Or at least improve the taxes on them, because the cost of drunken louts to the economy is sizeable.

Dom for next Prime Minister sounds like he'd do well in parliament. :lol::lol:

Also for tax reasons, we cant tax something that is illegal, thats why all the gangsters hide it and why they get done on tax evasion charges.
Legalising would bring a big kitty in for the government. Also, I heard that the drug trafficking industry is worth a staggering $600 billion to your very own Wall Street, Dylan. So it's definitely a necessary evil for alot of people with business interests.

If people are relying on Drug money to fund their businesses, then they don't deserve to be in business. Plus think of all the time and money spent on trying to stop the drugs coming in, catching people, seizing the drugs and then paying for treatment of abusers.

There is no good argument to have recreational drugs, but a million reasons not to.
