Daily Star: Simply The Best 7 Days A Week :: Football :: Moyes on £7m Hunt

EVERTON boss David Moyes is preparing a £7m double swoop for Reading striker Kevin Doyle and winger Stephen Hunt.

Doyle, 25, netted 13 goals in his first Premier League season.

New Royals boss Brendan Rodgers said: “There is absolutely no doubt that guys like Kevin Doyle are Premier League players.

“When you come out of the Premier League, especially in the second year of your parachute payments, it becomes very, very difficult to hold on to those players.”

I like hunt, who is a niggly type of player who gets on peoples nerves but I think like his work ethic would fit in well with our squad

Hunt is an absolute work horse and would happily take him. Doyle...not too sure. Bit of a hit and miss to be honst.

Hunt is a good premier league player and would add some depth. Cannot say he would improve our 1st team though so I would prefer we got squad fillers in that would come a bit cheaper. I think Hunt would be quite popular if he were to come on the market and on pretty big wages.

Doyle has done nothing to suggest that he is worthy of a move to us. Championship striker I'd say.

I see these are the people Moyes meant when he said Everton where in a position to attract top players?

Ohhh.
There both poor players that couldnt even get Reading promoted?

These are the kind of players we would've been looking at 2/3 seasons ago, not now.
Not the kind of world beating players that can take us to the next level and into the top 4, no better than Osman, Pienaar, Cahill etc

Don't see the point to be honest, save the £7m and put towards Moutinho or someone of that ilk

These are the players who will play early Carling Cup matches and Europa League matches leaving our better players to play in the league and bigger more important matches.

Hunt is the type of player any team needs, does not stop running for 90 mins. True hes not blessed with a lot of class, but i feel he would do a good job here.
Doyle im not convinced is good enough for the premier league.

If this story is true, I'd guess that these are squad players so that we're not short on numbers. Its the only logic, since they have premier league experience and Moyes can make them better.

But we need quality on top of them to make such purchases "worthwhile".
