Where have i missed the point?

He wants a top ten finish.

We finished 5th and 6th in the past 2 seasons, surely that is going backwards?

Christ.

The point was gaining 3 top ten finishes in a row is a positive. As opposed to gaining 1 then slipping backwards like we have done under Moyes.

Its not a case of celebrating and being happy or wanting 10th place, 1st place would still be a top 10 finish and achieved the same.

The point is that 3 top 10 finishes in a row is a good acheivment for Moyes. And stating that in no way suggests that someone is "settling for second best" as you put it.

I'd be willing to bet we all want us to improve on the 5th place of last year, to get that 3rd consectutive top half of the table finish as high as possible.

It ain't settling for 10th place whatsoever.

Response:- I'd guess probably none. One of ours though is Jack Rodwell, who happens to be a very good player regardless of his age. Jose came on once and started a single game of 12, I reckon there have been other youth players to make fleeting appearances for other teams this season. It doesn't necessarily suggest lack of quality that we play youngsters, lots of teams would like to have Castillo and he doesn't get picked ahead of our YTS lad.

Way I see it last season Spurs had better players than us and that was it (bar the obvious). Villa are getting pretty good now, few other teams are decent, but not as good as us.

It is though, think of the teams we'd have to be below to finish 8th, 9th or 10th. Sickening.

whoa whoa whoa delilah...

How is retaining our fifth place finish progression? (another top ten finish actually includes position 5, but lets leave that... for now)

Surely a club who spent peanuts in the summer, would recognise 5th as an act of progress in todays Footballing climate.

I'm gonna give up if we settle for anything outside the European places.

Although why doesnt it suprise me?

Evertonians settle for 2nd best and yard dogs + headless chickens, always have done.

peanuts in the summer? wasn't he last summer? or are you talking cash spent? because if I recall rightly, AND I DO, we broke our transfer record again this summer.

WHO THE HELL IS SETTLING FOR SECOND BEST IN THIS THREAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Recognising that 3 top 10 finishes in a row is progress (that thing you like) all be it of a small and not particualry exciting kind is absolutely nowhere near being happy with a 10th placed finish or settling for second best.

Don't let that get in the way of a good excuse yo go on about yard dogs though. And don't worry about ignoring the thread full of people moaning at the football we play cause they don't want the talented players we have (not yard dogs) winning by playing [Poor language removed] football. They want winning by playing good football.

Sorry for the shouting but you're talking complete rubbish and its annoying me.

No, your chatting [Poor language removed] when you think that gaining a top 10 finish would be progression, considering we finished 5th last year:(
