he said 16 years ago that he would support funding work which helps people, by their own choice, change their sexual behavior. considering how conservative some bible belt communities are it's not as demonising as it sounds, plus also includes changing other sexual behaviours like sex addiction, porn addiction and the like.

that Pence himself is deeply religious and a hard conservative isn't in dispute, he can hardly be expected to suddenly swing like a bisexual hippy.

Pence is vice-p because of his ties to congress, not because of his naive outdated views on sexuality. This link to Congress is a handy thing for Trump (and it's Trump who's clearly in charge when you observe their body language...very different to Bush/Cheney).


He never stated anywhere that he supports or would fund actual gay conversion therapy.


hence the Snopes' verdict of 'mixture' is fair. Snopes is the most respected from all these truthfinding sites, because it's balanced and largely without agenda.

So let's get to what Trump really said about Mexicans:-

Notice how when you conveniently focus on certain things and forget the rest you can make somebody sound entirely different. Now having family near the border I can assure you they have quite legitimate concerns on this subject. Do their concerns matter?

He also said a Mexican judge shouldn't rule on Trump University on the sole basis he's a Mexican.

On blacks:

“I think that the guy is lazy. And it’s probably not his fault because laziness is a trait in blacks. It really is; I believe that. It’s not anything they can control.”

And so on.

But then you've just tried to excuse someone believing in gay conversion therapy, so really I think I made the wrong decision here - I shouldn't have bothered replying.

See, I disagree.

"Resources should be directed toward those institutions which provide assistance to those seeking to change their sexual behavior."

So simply because he didn't use the actual words "gay conversion therapy" but instead described the institutions known to do it, that was enough to call it mixed.

That's pretty much a definition of spin.
