If the shoe was on the other foot you'd be in here flipping out about a rigged system.

He was flipping out before the election saying it was rigged.

Farage was hilarious when the polls closed for brexit as the exit polls said remain would win so he said he was going to start a campaign for a second referendum as the vote was rigged.

You couldn't make it up.

think it would give them too much importance and open up a whole can of worms.
Possibly...but they shouldn't need them if they appeal to enough people...hence less extreme views, no system is perfect obviously...asproportional representation then actually allows views of more xtreme parties for example...just throwing stuff out there really

Tubey - you are expecting supporters of a candidate to denounce him because they are told something by a media with its own favourite in the contest. That they might refuse to denounce him doesn't mean that they are turning a blind eye to his misogyny, it just means that they don't want his opponent to win. Exactly the same phenomena was seen by Clinton supporters with all the avoidance over the DNC email hack, or by you whenever the subject of Blair comes up.

You are saying that white working class folk are indifferent to racism, misogyny and the rest?

Bold bit - it equates to the same thing! How aren't you seeing this? If you place enough importance on racism and misogyny, and one candidate IS demonstrably a racist and/or misogynist, then you don't vote for them! To do so is obviously turning a blind eye to it. It could actually be a dictionary definition of that term.

I bolded "enough importance" because that's the part you don't seem to get?

And no, I'm not saying that "white working class folk" are indifferent to those topics - what I AM saying is that enough of them are to make them as a demographic lean towards Trump more than other demographics. You seem desperate to believe people think ALL white working class voters are automatically racist.

Having flatterred and legitimized a bunch of ex-Baath/suburban Euro virgins with a flair for the dramatic by escalating them into a global security threat to mobilize our own gullible angry men to serve domestic purposes,
that's a mighty tight précis of the current security situation, padré. Bravo. I would have added "funded", "trained" and "armed" myself.

Sorry, I've just actually took in this sentence.

Although in danger of going off topic, what the hell is that about?!

cheers (i think)

even calling it a "security situation" is perhaps misleading. i mean, i'm grateful i'm not Yazidi and would not want to downplay how horrible they have been, locally... but not even the Israelis are worried about ISIS and they make Texans look like vegetarians when it comes to trigger-happiness.

ISIS is a primarily domestic political rather than security issue, for both sides. both parties are served by inflating how seriously the other side regards them. the threat of ISIS helps win American elections, and the threat of America helps swell ISIS recruitment. they have already made clear their delight that Trump will be much more willing to co-operate in this regard.

the power of nightmares...

The current result can't be changed but maybe in the future the whole voting process can be. Just going for the popular vote won't work either as it neglects the more rural voters and smaller states who basically would end up not getting much of a say. Either way both sides would have been happy to take the victory as it is, Hillary certainly wouldn't have been going and saying this is unfair on Donald.
As for protesters I love protesting, however it shouldn't be done to the point where it harasses the people who are not protesting, blocking roads, stopping people picking up their kids and damaging of other peoples property, for that you should face criminal charges. What I do find interesting is that most of the protesters are in Cities and States that voted for Clinton and the damage they are causing to businesses and cars belong to the people who voted for Clinton. What I find particularly discerning is that people can no longer function, college kids can't do their exams or essays, adults can't go to works and people feel suicidal, seriously! Obviously people are upset, but darlings this is an election, somebody is going to lose, you have to carry on with life the next day. You know when 9/11 occurred kids saw horrific things, people jumping from the twin towers to escape the flames, dead bodies everywhere, but you know what we went to school the next day. Also please stop calling Trump the next Hitler, it's a an insult to people like me whose family was affected by what the Nazi's did, when you say this you show your ignorance, the Nazi's murdered 11 plus million people, Trump will not murder 11 plus million people. OK.
Also on another point, the people who voted for trump, 60 plus million of them are not all racists, some probably but certainly not the majority. Many of these people were actually Obama voters for the last two elections, yet now they are apparently racist according to some of you. They were pissed off and just like the much smaller number of protesters we have now they showed this with their vote. The difference is they didn't go around destroying other peoples properties and beating people up because of who they chose to vote for.

You're oversimplifying and, on several occasions, exaggerating something that doesn't exist.

Nobody thinks all Trump supporters are racist. Nobody thinks Trump is akin to Hitler and is going to start death camps for Mexicans or whatever. These things are ridiculous and are ignoring the actual concerns people have.

The people who are genuinely upset about this in America have every right to be - they've just seen legitimacy given to extremist viewpoints. I'd personally try and imagine what it'd be like being a Muslim and walking around with a hijab in certain parts of America right now after that vote before telling them to 'carry on with life'.
