Number killed in Israeli strike in northern Gaza rises​

The number of people killed in an Israeli strike on the Gazan town of Beit Lahiya has risen to 60.

There are 17 others still missing under the rubble of the residential building that was hit, an official added.

The Palestinian news agency Wafa reported that most of those killed in the strike were women and children, citing medics.

I try to avoid Godwins law and all that and keep it objective when it comes to the facist traits of trump and his followers, of which there are plenty.

Obviously there are massive differences between the two. But something has struck me over the last few years. When we learned about World War 2 and Nazi Germany in history class, I used to always remember wondering how in the hell society got to such a point where they happily followed such a deranged lunatic. How on earth could people not see what was happening and be repulsed?

And yet here we are. There's a not-insignificant number of people on this forum and around the world openly cheerleading a genocide, trolling and chuckling at the thousands of dead and burnt babies piling up in Palestine and going to bat for a grotesque conman who has openly stated his desire to end democracy in the USA (and even made a fairly decent stab at it already). It now seems all too clear how all of that happened before. Eventually, whether through boredom or ignorance or something else, enough people will just forego decency and vigilance and let evil take the wheel for a while.

I’ve always been interested in history and I’ll be honest like you it used to Baffle me How they ended up in that situation. Well now Trump in particular but on this side of the Atlantic as well it feels insane so see the rise of , let’s call it , populism but also makes history seem so much clearer .
