All of it comes very close to eugenics nazi chat for me.
It isn’t a particular era of history I’ve really studied much tbh and am always interested in the thoughts of yourself, @PhilM, @tsubaki and others that slip my mind that I believe have, and therefore have more insight into to ground these poisonous seeds are sown.

And there is always the caution of falling foul of Godwin’s law.

But the repeated dehumanization and claims “they” are “animals”, “spreading diseases”, “raping our women”, “killing our animals”, “ low intelligence “ are such classic flags that for me are hard to ignore and ascribe it to general electioneering.

In the late 20s, the word 'untermensch' started to gain prominence in Germany through its use in Der Stürmer (Nazi paper dripping in racism).

It became more and more common, and it was eventually used in official channels. Its literal translation is 'sub-human', and it was used to describe many.

When you start to dehumanise people, it becomes much easier for the general population to show a lack of apathy, and when that happens it's a slippery slope.

I'm sure if you looked closely enough into the channels used by hard-line Republicans etc, you'd get nuances of Mexicans and whatnot fitting that description.

@LinekersLegs; Eugenics was a popular, spurious science from mid Victorian times. The idea of racial superiority might be regarded as a convenient, safe, modesty blanket for the imperial land grabs that occured.

In Germainy, anti Semitism was around forever. One Cambridge historian suggesting it started gaining a firm grip of the national consciousness of the various German states around the time of the first crusade. Much more recently both Bismarck and Wilhelm II were anti semites and, to their shame, Wagner and his wife were beyond anything sane where it concerned the Jews.

While it's easy to shovel blame in the direction of the Catholic church for stoking the flames, given Prussia's resolute evangelicl protestantism, it seems to be the collective national consciousness rather than a religious thing - though doubtless religion, like eugenics was employed to give a respectable coat to naked bigotry.

Do you think the USA would have been better under British rule?

Considering the arguments from both sides of the US political party, I think it would have been.
